Check to see if you can get a "surety bond". Basically an insurance bond for your title.
Thats how I did it and it cost me a grand total of $67 with a bill of sale only to get a title from NM
5K is a little steep if it does not run ( and no way to check the crane also) But the body does look in good shape. Plus that gasser motor sucks on mileage but it has lots of torque.
Good luck.
Not unless you want it to go KA BOOM!!
These engine were made to go offroad under bad conditions using various available fuels. Not as an over the road daily driver.
Mileage might be possible to get 14mpg or so but the rest you just are not gonna get safely.
Is that the only wrecker there? If you don't get it, let us know where it is. I know I am interested!!:-P
I found a 246 down the road from me 3 years ago and the old man won't sell it to me.
Good luck.
If you can fit stuff into a shipping container then you can get a good deal on shipping back to the US from Hawaii. But since the trucks (deuces and 5 tons) don't fit real well into a container, they have to be RORO or roll on roll off, basically driven onto and off the ship.
I won a couple...
Can it pull it? yes Can it stop it? NO!
What costs more? paying someone to haul it home or legal fees when you crash into some innocent person?
What is wrong with it? Any chance on getting it running?
Also check your state to see if you can do a title bond. Basically a bond against a title coming up ever again.
I refuse to pay GL any more money for a piece of paper I should get by law with the truck.
So I got a vin verification from the State Police then a $50 title bond from Allstate...
