It wouldn't maybe be cheaper to buy a diesel (a la M35A2), it woulddefinitely be cheaper. And you wouldn't get excommunicated from any military vehicle groups for cutting up a classic and close-to-rare truck.
I'd reckon he'd rather not share his whole life and home with the rest of the internet.

Hmmm... I did some Googling, and a 101 box is about a perfect match dimension-wise for a stock M37 bed, so it'd be probably some fabrication for the mounts to get it to work...
Seeing as there are plenty of surplus military trailers around, and not nearly so many M37 beds in good shape, could the box of one of the various trailers (M101, M105) be used to replace the bed on an M37? I'm just looking for alternatives to tracking down an M37 bed around here to...
Lots of people have used them. I can't name any off the top of my head, but go back 3 or 4 pages in this section, or try and search for bob deuce and 105 springs...
For fixing your brake problems, I'd recommend checking all 6 wheels for fluid leaks, and maybe even bleeding the brakes to see if you've got air in your system (even though you would have a slight bit of braking power in that situation).
