Top Truck Challenge Road Trip, PA to CA!

Gary, I thought I'd be clever and since the multifuel didn't have mufflers I'd just not run them on the CAT...and since it's a V style motor, only dual exhaust would do! Let me tell ya...it's loud. It's louder than that. Ear protection is not just a good idea, it's a mandatory action. My...

Talk to Randy Ouverson about his double splined alloy axlehshafts for the rear. They're pretty burly...he's a mud runner too so he'd get a kick out of that slop you dug into. --I laughed so hard to see that CAT pulling you out and the "THANK YOU" sign right there I think I dislocated a rib!

Top Truck Challenge Road Trip, PA to CA!

Yeah, really! Would you believe that the Duramax truck averaged about 16.5mpg pulling an 1800# trailer with a 7000# truck on it with the aerodynamics of a cinder block? IT DID!!! I could have only pulled about 12mpg...maybe out of the Velvet. I added up the receipts tonight...$780 in fuel, $60...

    Which motor to swap in...

Personally, if I were gonna put another swap motor in a deuce, I'd go with a 71 Series Detroit. Not for power, not for ease, but for SOUND! They have such an awesome sound, sounds like they're really spooling up and roaring when they're actually just purring along with crank speed. Love that...

5 ton axles on a deuce?

Is the housing modular design like the deuce rockwells? If so, he could turn the front housing side to side, rotate the chunk 180* so it keeps it's drive on the correct side of the teeth, and swap knuckles side to side. That would put the chunk in the right spot. Oh, and even if he decided...

Spool for rear axle...need your advice

Rattlehead you wrote: ...uh, that stuff two posts up about the front detroit and airshift case...heh,heh. The "power-in principle" that I mentioned seems to work, in my experience, with a pretty decent amout of input. Follow me here...when the driveshaft is spinning and the differential is...
