From an individual, I'd say 3-5k would get you a good condition deuce that you could most certainly drive home. 5k or so would probably get you a winch truck. 3k'd bring probably a pretty nice truck, maybe in need of some cosmetic work, w/o winch, but a good truck nonetheless.
Nice! Funny coincidence- that Trailblazer is almost exactly the same as the one we rented when I went down to look at and eventually buy my M37... Glad you had a safe trip, and are now fully introduced to Mr. Murphy. Get to know him, he likes us MV guys!
For painting the engine, do you only need hi-temp paint on the cylinder head, or do you need it somewhere else? (Obviously, I'm not considering the exhaust manifold and related exhaust paraphernalia in this question) Just wondering, because I've got a tractor to paint and while I've got the body...
As far as I understand (I'm not hijacking this thread too much) you don't need a special sprayer for these heavier-duty paints... just your average Northern Tool or Lowes jobber... Do y'all reccommend Gravity or Siphon feed? Also- any special equipment needed for spraying CARC?

When y'all pull your beds, could you get some good pictures of the rear frame member on the truck's frame? My truck in its former life got a bit to hotheaded with a stump and its frame is now 1" or so longer and 1/2" narrower in the rear, and my rear frame member is a bit beat up.
Last time I said "it only makes sense" to a politician I just narrowly escaped crucifixion...
EDIT: I'd stick it on the back, because I wouldn't think you'd be pulling a 5th wheel trailer near as often as not... plus, they are more likely to stop you for not having a plate on the rear when...
