Boyce Equipment claims to have all spare parts for the Spicer transmissions in stock at all times, but I'm sure Memphis, White Owl and others do too.

It's Gillespie 24087 "semi-gloss olive drab", which tends to look a little brownish. It can really look different depending on the lighting... sometimes it looks like a perfect match to original parts I have and other times it seems a shade too brown. I like the look, but in 5 years or so, or...
Looks great, Mike! Tan CARC is my favorite modern era paint scheme.
My deuce is in the "paint shop" right now, too... Different era paint job, though. Man, this is great - all the So Cal deuces are getting cleaned up!

Wow, Chris... You've really made a lot of progress! I had missed a few posts regarding the valve stem problems, so it's a little late now, but the valve stem is 5/16-32 NEF (National Extra-Fine). I used to have a die in that size, it came in a box of machinist's tools I bought but it...
We assume you meant half a century old? I wouldn't think 5-year-old valve springs should be crumbling away due to corrosion... 8)
Glad it was en easy fix...

Klean Strip stripper is a thick gel-like liquid that is brushed on. The can claims it will remove multiple layers of paint at once but my experience is that it removes one layer at a time... this is convenient, as it can be used to uncover stencils and other markings. I learned my deuce's...
Well, I chose an unlocker vs. removing the axle shaft because I use my deuce out in the desert, in sand, quite frequently... camping, shooting, and 6x6-ing. I wanted to save my tires while on pavement but be able to go off road with a simple turn of the hub lock. It would be a P.I.T.A. to have...
Nice! The handle seems a little short, but hey - That what pipe is for, right? ...or maybe that wouldn't be needed, I don't know. I've never loosened my compressor belt... cause I uh... never had a wrench for it!

I would twist that statement to mean bumping one of the "unsprung" gears first, to ensure nothing in the transmission is moving, then shift into 1st or reverse. The only time I start out in second is when the truck will roll on it's own when I let off the brake (aka - heading downhill).
I was...
I strip CARC all the time with Kleen Strip brand stripper from Home Depot. It works very quickly and peels it off in one nice layer like cellophane.
I would think abrasive blasting would leave a textured matte finish on the stainless steel that would make it VERY labor intensive to polish...

Front bumper markings and the side of the hood are 4"
Rear bumperette is 3"

Since 1st and reverse are not synchroed, it's good practice to bump another gear before shifting into those two to make sure the gears aren't turning at all. In other words, put the clutch in, shift into 2nd, or 3rd, etc. then shift into 1st or reverse. If you let the synchroed gears stop the...
I didn't want my Solargizer's panel permanently mounted to the truck. Solargizers are neat, but to me they somewhat spoil the look of a 1960s truck. So, I installed the circuit box behind the passenger's seat, and it's wired up to the batteries normally. I cut the wiring to the panel and put...
