    Rear Drive Shaft Disconnect

Why? I don't see how it would make a difference. I had decided to put my lockout hub on the rear tandem, in effect shortening the drive line (same as if you removed the drive shaft from between the tandems)... But I haven't installed it yet so I can still be convinced to do otherwise. Jon

    Master Cylinder Removal

All relevant manuals for an M35A2 are available for free download right here on Steel Soldiers in the Technical Manual section. I'm a pretty competent mechanic, having done all my own work for every vehicle I've ever owned over the last 20 years, and I can't imagine working on one of these...

Wasn't the current recommendation to use Break-Free CLP for air pack lube?

    How hot is too hot?

Ya know, I never did anything. The temps eventually settled down all by themselves, and now all six hubs are pretty close to the same temperature after a fast freeway trip, and all are only warm to the touch. :?: On a related topic - wheel bearing grease - I had wondered how much to use...

    Cheap 1" Impact

I wanted a wheel off one of the deuces at Walker's, so I pulled my deuce into the yard and used it to power my HF 1" impact. Those lug nuts were really stuck... I got the outer rears off after 10-20 seconds of impacting. I got some of the Budd nuts off, but the 1" impact is so powerful (the...

Oil filters and belts... quick info please

I don't know... Saturn is sold out, but theirs used to be originals. I didn't shop around, but I would if I was going to do it again. NOS would definitely be better than these, but would probably cost 2-3 times as much. I'd actually prefer to have a good used set... but these will be fine if...

Oil filters and belts... quick info please

Those are the new lines I got from TNJ Murray... They're cadmium plated. My old ones were rusty and the flare nut on the #2 cyl was rusted to the line so it twisted the pipe off when I removed it. I think these new ones are made in Korea. They barely fit and the tubes take a slightly...

Oil filters and belts... quick info please

Hmmm. A Napa 1133 oil filter doesn't seem to fit my deuce. What's the deal? I attached a pic so you guys can help me figure it out. rofl Jon

    Cab bow problems

Mine would pop out of the holes, too... I read somewhere that the holes in the bar should go all the way through, but mine were only drilled through one wall of the tube. After I drilled them all the way through, the bows fit much better now. Adam - If neither of your bars has the holes in it...

    M108 carb help

That website isn't always working properly... When I first discovered it, it was working like now, images not loading, pages jumbled up, etc... Then one day I checked and the whole thing was there, so I saved each page to my hard drive. Too bad it's not a .pfd, I don't know what format those...

    M108 carb help

    Winch Stuck

Looking back at the pics of your deuce, I see the chain is looped through the right front shackle... Take out the cotter pin and use a hammer and drift to knock the shackle pin out. Normally the pins can be removed by hand, but you will likely need the hammer and drift because of the tension...

Norm at Antelope Valley told me the cable is to be left dry, or use a dry lubricant like graphite.

Dot 3 or Dot 5 Brake fluid?

I don't know if it's just a coincidence or not, but my truck had DOT 5... I switched to DOT 3 and now everything leaks. Started leaking very soon after the change, noticed it a few days later. However, after I rebuild 6 wheel cylinders, an air pack and a master cylinder, I will probably...
