The fan will freewheel when the engine runs. If the fan clutch is engaged, the fan makes HUGE noise going down the road. What do you think, is the fan super noisy? If so, there are numerous threads here on fixing it, or refer to the Technical Manual.
If it’s too long for your M35A2, which it appears to be, they got it wrong X2, that is for a MTV. If it fits a 12’ bed, you can flip this to a LMTV guy, those are super hard to find.
The sides would not hold up at all, the hinge pins are like 0.25” and the two upper slide latches are from a household door looks like. The bed itself is very strong.
Ok one thing you need to be aware of, one alternator has to have an isolated negative , it’s a special unit not available at Auto Zone. You can convert a standard one over, but it’s easier to just fix your bad alternator with a new regulator, which is the same.
1. Yes on the WTEC II the shift selector and the trans ECU are the same box. If volts were low, you would get a code for that.
2. No such dedicated wire
3. Numerous solenoids in the transmission open valves which directs hydraulic pressure to clutches. Nothing wrong with them.
Now...
I would grind away all rust until just shiny metal remains. Then fill the holes and the bare shiny steel area with JB Weld. Then coat the area with cold galvanize paint, then topcoat.
That will work. I would do everything I could to make sure the engine is a good runner before going through the work of transplanting it. Including making sure coolant doesn't disappear. My '00 6.5 TD does that. I keep having to refill it.
Is the box truck a "cutaway", i.e. a van that has the back cut off? Those have the rear mount turbocharger which won't fit. Otherwise no problem other than having to "de-computerize" the engine.
