In that first picture, how do you have the electric cable hooked up? I assume thats what that cable is right?
What do you guys do about brakes? Let the deuce do all the braking? or hook up an electric brake controller?
Well I finally got around to busting open the crate that had my winch in it. I bought it a while back thinking it was a 20,000lbs winch for the front of a 5 ton. WRONG - turns out it is a 45,000lbs winch!! No wonder it was so heavy. The way it was in the crate I couldn't see the...
On the M105/M200A1 and similiar trailers, what activates the brakes when you press the pedal in the cab, the air or the electric? I know that the emergency line if disconnected will activate the brakes but what about normal braking?
Trying to figure out a way to make a trailer that uses the...
thanks guys.
I might just be living in it when the wife finds out!!
I plan on flying into San Fran and driving down to see some friends by San Luis Obispo and then over to Barstow and I40 all the way to New Mexico.
If anyone out that way is interested in a 5 ton winch, I might...
Re: RE: got a expandable van(292A2)
Thanks David - yea I am not too worried about the speed. I am going to take my time driving it home. Do you know where I can find some info about the van body? The seller said it hasn't been expanded in a while and I was wondering about some preventative...
Just won this off of Ebay:

emailed the seller and seems like its a good running truck with decent tires. Plan to make a camper out of it. My 5 ton plans were not...
On the M246 and I assume the newer wreckers, there are boom support legs that go on the ground to support the boom when lifting very heavy loads up and down only, no side or forward movement. I bet that those can be used as a safety support.
My new (to me) winch is REALLY BIG! I was just wondering if anyone had the NSN for the 45,000 lb rear winch?
My NSN for this winch is 2540-00-740-9980 is this right for the front winch? Just want to make sure I have the right winch.
thanks
RE: Level Wind
To answer my own question, I got my winch delivered today. I put down 500lbs as a guess on the weight. The shipping company weighed it and the winch plus cable, level wind and pallet/crate equals 1390 lbs!! Geuss I didn't estimate it too good!!
Here is a link with some dealers, also Ebay has some and alot of guys on here can help out with your needs. I t all depends on what breaks and how badly.

I used to live in Atascadero CA and comute on Rt. 58 over to Bakersfield every day. 1.5 hours each way on that road. You see some strange stuff out there in the middle of nowhere.
Where was the oil leak at? I didn't realize you were gonna sleep in the truck, I could have given you a heater for the back at least. I am glad you made it ok. Have fun with it.
