I agree with Bjorn here, I switched my truck to DOT 3 (Actually, the brakes were drained when I got it). But now 4/6 of my wheel cylinders are leaking, and it seems like more than just a coincidence. :?: After I rebuild them I will still use DOT 3. I'm cheap and I don't see the advantage. 8)...
Here's a different kind of pre-lube pump, it's a self-contained gear drive electric oil pump that is plumbed between the sump and oil gallery, and has a check valve to keep oil from returning to the sump when the pump is not running.
They sell a heavy duty 24 volt version, scroll down...
I was thinking the same thing... judging by the amount of rust on that truck, I doubt the tank is in any better condition. If you want to use that one, I would open the dome and take a look... have it untrasounded by a pressure vessel inspector to determine shell thickness and then...
I don't know about the complete cylinders, but the rebuild kits I got from Ted's have 'Made in USA' molded into the rubber parts. And they're only $4 per wheel... I got my 3-stone hone from NAPA for $20.

Did you use 'Stump Burning Compound'? It's just a box of saltpeter (potassium nitrate). Use a long drill bit (I use a 1x12 inch) to drill as deeply as possible into the stump, fill the holes with saltpeter (will need more than one box for big stumps), water the stump and wait a week. THEN...
Regarding the carb, they're easy to rebuild. If you can't find one locally, Walker's here in Hesperia has carb kits for the OA331 for ~$20... That's a lot cheaper than a new carb and may make more sense, especially if you're eventually planning to swap the engine to a MF anyway.
If your 108 is...
That big diesel is an EMD 16-645 (16 cylinders, 645 cubic inches per cylinder), 3300 hp.
It's probably a locomotive engine, although they are also used in small ships, like tugboats and as large standby generators...
They're 2-stroke diesels. I like 'em... and I get to run 'em at work! :D

I think there was a PS Magazine article that said that oil seepage from the head is, to some extent, normal... I don't think I'd change it for that reason alone unless it was really making a mess.
Wow, that SUCKS :!:
If I did that to someone's truck, I would pay for the damage. Even if I had to give him $100 a month for a year, I would do it. Maybe you'll get lucky and he will take responsibility for what he did.

The reproduction heater mounting plate set is made by SS member John Tennis and is available from Spruce Mt. Surplus:
http://www.sprucemtsurplus.com/m35.html
It's identical to the mounting plates that were included in the heater kit for multifuels... I brought my mounting plates over to...
Interesting solution... Glad to hear it worked! That will save some serious $$$ for use elsewhere.
The 'deflection temperature' for Delrin is around 260 degrees F., and the melting point seems to vary but is usually listed around 340-350 degrees F., so maybe you used just enough heat to loosen...
I've got the same kind of wear on my front tires, too...
That's why I'll be installing one floating axle shaft and locking hub on one side of one of my rear axles before I get new tires. Unlock it for pavement, lock it for off-road. I'll paint it OD and I don't think it will spoil the...
The 'instructions' included with the kit are little more than a one-page parts list and four poorly reproduced blueprints - two for the heater install and two for the front canvas cover install. There is no 'step by step' instruction, the closest you will get to that is the link Opie posted...
Very good idea, this is a mod I would definitely like to do. I'll hafta watch for some relays.
Bjorn, I like the other turn signal mod you've done - where the low air buzzer 'flashes' on and off while the turn signals are on. How did you do that? Is there a thread here about it? Does the...
