RNeely,
Glad it came together for you. Makes future filter changes real easy. Find a old baking pan, makes a great drip pan for under the filter, rests on the frame rail.

Sounds like a chaffed power lead/wire. Look at the wire bundles routed over frame work/ edged body panels. I have found several chaffed wires on my trucks. Lots of vibration in these vehicles. First time it shorts, the breaker pops, second time it shorts, it welds itself to the ground element.
Darryl,
Welcome to the site from Mt. Eden. I work in Louisville. Some good folk in Kentuckyana. Get ready for the MVPA convention in a couple of weeks.

Welcome from Kentucky, post up your deuce's data plate info when you get it. Not to many challenges to maintaining a M35 as long as you have the correct tools, parts, and manuals. Oops, you tossed the manuals.... This site's tech library
contains the TMs you will need.
Post pics when available...
Just saw this thread, I have a M35 in Juliette, GA needing a lift to Crestwood ,KY. Shippers are slow with their bids. I could share the ride if room available.

Exactly, he was told to drain the fluids, don't make a mess and had probably a dozen vehicles to do in a shift. The spill pads placed in the trans pan ensured no seepage. An auto trans will drip fluid for days. Anyone recovering a "fluids drained" vehicle has to really inspect it for condition...
The tire rub may be from the vehicle being turned real tight at a slow speed on pavement. Low air pressure lets the side wall flex and the thread cleats can contact the suspension. Seen this with other dual tire/bogie axle M939s. Slow/tight turns on pavement also put a lot of lateral tension on...
Mag-Tech make a line of high capacity trans pans for most manufactures, adds about 4 qts of fluid. Has magnetic drain plug and threaded boss plug for temp sending unit. I've installed several on Fords/GMs. Solid aluminum and powder coated.
Gimp,
Don't forget my tent floors, I'll bring sausage. If you guys are set up, I'll bring you fresh ground (whole steer) angus for the grill. You just got to cook it.
I'll be with Brad S, he'll have all kinds of stuff, plus his shop is right down the road.

Engineer,
I might take you up on that offer. Got a M936 last month and haven't had time to go over it yet. Working on it this weekend, addressing a couple hydraulic leaks first, then fluids and filters. The SS that recovered it and helped ship it said it worked OK. Biggest issue are leaks...
That is a neat idea, wasn't planning to install an EGT (exhaust gas temp) gauge due to the stock configuration, but the smoke grenade bezal makes it look like it belongs in the truck.
