I don't know about other 5tons but the tailgate on my fixed sided deuce will not work on my fixed sided M-54A1., Its not tall enough for hook slots to match up, width is the same but tailgate needs to be about 3" higher to work on the M-54
I just put Supacat on my list to Santa!!

From reading some of your picture comments it looks like you're outfitting for a trip to parts unknown???
I doubt factory, I don't think the deuces were ever factory delivered with ring mounts they were field installed by the assigned units just like I'm sure these manholes were. I'm sure you'll find a NSN for the install kit being this is definitly not a cut down 55gal drum
Regarding the cable and hardtop clearence, why not put a standoff/extension in the back where the cable contacts the bed from the pintle, by raising the rear of the cable about 12-14" it should clear the cab. I wonder if the tailgate has to come off to run the cable to the pintle? Also I would...
Off the top I would like to say that I feel that detergent oil can be bad for older engines that have only bypass filtration ( ie 230 Dodge flatheads ). Non-detergent oils do not hold contaminates in suspension like detergent oils do, ND oil let contaminates fallout to the bottom of the oil pan...
I pulled the old steering wheel today ( click below ) and noticed the upper column bearing is pretty sloppy, has anyone changed this bearing?, did you have to pull the shaft?, and who might carry the part ( I did not see it on Saturns site ).
Thanks...
The engine in the genset your looking at is a aircooled Cummins not a Deutz. I think 3000hrs is kinda high for aircooled but not over the hill but I'm no expert on these gensets , I'm sure someone here will pipe in OR go to the the below link and they'll have some sound answers for you.

Mil 10kw diesel genset ( MEP-003A ) are 4 cylinders the one in your pic looks like a MEP-002A, 2 cylinder aircooled Onan/Cummins 5kw (7kw max) mil genset which you don't see many of.
Racors ( and most filters) only filter out FREE water, they do very little to emulsified water., If its grey in color then theres still water in suspension, for some reason salt water stays suspendid in fuel/oil longer then fresh at least thats been my observation from 25+ years in the marine...

I feel your pain!, my last house had a 600s/f detached garage but only 7' H doors, I could barely get my 37 in it. BUT all thats changed now http://news.webshots.com/photo/2394788080033732824vEFOJM
Don't know how original you want to be but a M-151 water heater would probably be your easiest/cheapest install, Army Surplus warehouse,Sam Winer motors has complete units for around $70

You would need to use a good primer AND a primer sealer, this will work on the exposed side of the filler but there are holes that you could not get to the other side of the filler to seal ( ie kick panels, piller posts ) and thats where moisture can get...
RE: Re: RE: Body Filler
Bondo is a polyester base filler and is known to absorb/hold moisture., I like to use 3M marine filler as it is a vinylester (sp) base and is water resistant. It goes on and sands just as easy as Bondo but it does cost a bit more.
I have a set of 6TN's ( yes TN ) these look like TL's so I don't know the difference. They are less then 2 years old and can't keep a charge., I have them on a desulfator for about 2 wks now and hope I can bring them back, if not I'm going to wallyworld for my next set of standards
