what kind of fuel econ are you wanting from a 13k+ truck? my a2 get 10mpg, i think thats pretty good for the size. not to mention that CAT (ugh) is not gonna like "free fuel"
Oh yea, as for the power steering, keep in mind its "air assist", not quite the hydo that you may be acustom to.
Moving around can cause unnessisary and undesierable stress to the pin. I would shim it just to reduce wear on both your pins and the shackle mounts. Lil safer as well. 2cents
No seal on the rear shaft, just a rubber "O" ring on the adapter. There is a seal on the transfercase input shaft and a gasket between the t-case and adapter. Can show you adapters and 400's if you wanna see in person.....

I know this sounds stupid but did you make shure the shifter was tight? mine when i got it from gl was snug but could be pushed far to the right causing it hard to get into 4/5 because i couldnt get it over far enough. FWIW.
