I haven't gotten into taking a truck that far apart. Engine and all the little cab parts are what resells quick. Why don't you disconnect it coming off the axle and blow some air into it.
I have seen them on but don't have a pic sorry. They don't look bad. I think they were part of the first gen up armor kit. I think they add about 25lbs to each wheel. I have some too I was thinking of installing. But I don't really do any off-roading there isn't anywhere around my area wide...
The one I saw the front held together and the door area took the impact by bending the cab in a V. I do agree the front area having that big protective chunk in front does appear good at first look. If the m939 had an integral cab like the big high top rops cab then I think the result would be...
I have had alternators, belt tensioner pulleys and water pumps do that to me. You can rule out the tensioner by spraying a bit of wd40 on the shaft area.
One of the army mechs told me there was a warning on the u-joints. Any more than .025 end play and they can blow apart. I dont know how to measure it though.
I have the fronts 2 each side they are used but were installed when the truck was rebuilt in late 2012. They will include the nuts and bolts. I may have rears I would have to look. The truck is an 03 A1 so they should be the correct ones.
Chances are the regulator sense wires are bad. I don't know how a hammer is involved in this though. And if you hit the alternator with a hammer the only thing it will do is make your pocket lighter they are expensive. You can verify the regulator connections by running the truck and measuring...
The M939 cab I saw folded into a V. It fared no better than the cabover. There's no replacement for a careful operator in any of these trucks they all lack modern vehicle safety features.
Don't think for one minute the M939 trucks are any better. I saw one that was a front collision the front area was bent up a bit not too bad but the doors popped open and the entire cab folded at the door sills.
Thanks I have an extra cab here but it's easier to part it out. I don't have it in me to put something like this back together. It would be very expensive and a lot of work.
