What was your plan had you gotten into an accident without plates??????
Im not familair with the laws of your state, but in NY, to get plates you need to prove ownership with a title and have insurance.. Did you have insurance on the vehicle?
If your in a rush, disconnect the upper and lower hoses, and stick a garden hose in the top. Let it run for 10-20 minutes.. Then stick it in the bottom, let is run for 10-20 min. That should get the majority of the gunk out in a "time crunch" situation.
The COMVEC show was pretty decent.
I think the next few shows in the next few weeks in the NE are the Norwich show in Northfield VT, the Weare show in Weare NH, and Gilbert PA in September.
As for the fuel problems...
Ditto on the fuel filter. Change that out ASAP... There is no easy way to drain the fuel tank in the CUCV.. I'd suggest putting some Diesel Kleen or the like in there, and fill it up with fresh diesel. This will atleast dilute the old stuff. Then run it.. See...
Im happy you got a deal, but as an American Taxpayer, that is flat out waste... Thats a current MKT, with all the current stuff in it. No reason that should of been surplused, as there are units out there in the field that have MKT's in much worse condition than that.
The Lister Bags puzzle...
The velcro IS for MILES gear.. I've done a few rotations at the NTC, and thats how they place it. The "brain box" and whoopie light go right on the hood, the sensors mount on the bed and sometimes the engine compartment.
M9 paper is stickybacked, and there is no reason to put velcro on it.
A "mismatched" truck is asking for trouble, either with the PD on the side of the road, or when selling it.. "well, it's really a 1988, but the title says 1978"...
Or try explaining that to your insurance company when you need to make a claim.. "Oh, so you lied to us? Claim denied"...
