Oh Im not looking to buy. I just like to drive around and see stuff. I came across a truck right here in manhattan with a the batwing machine shop on it parked off an alley behind some guys garage. I cant for the life of me remember if its a deuce or a 5ton.
The forest service had a GSA sale a...
greenjeepster, If you get bored and want to really get a headache ( or learn something) read this thread, http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/33201-more-winching-ops-questions.html. On page 2 you come to a picture posted by cranetruck, well I'll post it here, study it and try to figure it out...
Whew glad thats over I was afraid we were getting way off track of the OP's original intentions and gonna start to draw fire from the Mods.
Back to the OP's storage ? I'd like to see any pics anyone has of added storage to their trucks.
Here I fixed the picture. I scratched out everthing but the single block with one pulley.
Does this help.
To confuse you more, your forward movement is now half of your winch line speed.
Edit: there are no floating blocks in the figure we are using for reference. only running blocks. Even...
It's physics. If I take and A-frame, and a 2000lb block of iron, I can lift it with my scrawny little 180lbs by using enough steel cable and putting enough pulleys between the A-frame and block of iron. Do a google search for block and tackle and how it works. I'm sure you can find someone that...
If you've been thru an ice storm recently and ever been without power for up to a week then any gen. is worth its weight in gold.
2 years ago we had a bad one (ice storm) and after the second day you couldnt find any gen. within a 300 mile radius of here.
I wasnt trying to scare him out of it, just wanted him to know what he was getting into if he welded it up.
I couldnt find anything about opening the trans and welding the sprag but I found this: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-up/18459-frustrating-809-series-sprag.html Hope it helps if you...
If I understand it right, putting an air switch in the line to main line going to the transmission will keep the sprag from engaging at all (freewheel). With the switch in the off position (no air) the sprag gear just stays in neutral position (between 1st and rev).
Carefull with welding the sprag. I have heard (not investigated for my self) that the front and rear spin at different speeds. That would mean that your gonna experience much greater tire wear and possibly broken parts if the tires are on a hard packed surface and not allowed to slip. Not to...
:ditto: I had mentioned in another thread about building some storgare boxes there. Id like to see how that plate is supported at the fender.
PS beautiful truck.
