You made me nervous when you went for the starter before checking to make sure its in neutral. My son is constantly playing in my trucks so I have made it a habit to always check before starting.
Recovery4x4, in your senario, where is the winch and where is the load? If you are using your truck/winch to winch out another vehicle and the snatchblock is attatched to the stuck vehicle and your winch line is attatched to an tree (immovable object) next to your truck (the one with the winch)...
I dont want to argue with recovery, but you lost me with that one. If the cable is not attatched back to the truck you cannot be increasing your pull. Would that not be the same as running the line thru the fixed block and then 90* out to the side? Please explain. Now I'm not saying I cant...
Sorry I cant help you with the top, But that is one sharp looking truck you have there.

I just realized after reading this thread 3-4 different times I havent posted yet. Im planning on coming down for the day. I past right by the museum when I went to recover my M818 from Norman OK and made a mental note that I must return.
When I get a winch for the front of my 5ton I plan to build lockable storage boxes right behind the bumper on both sides. Thats where the recovery equip. will be stored.
Hmmm thats strange. I dont have a M101 but I have heard of guys dumping loads of dirt/gravel/split wood by locking the wheels and backing up. Those loads have to weigh more than the spare tire. if you have another spare tire/wheel combo (or something of similar weight) try hanging the spare on...
Ive got the pull cord setup on the M818 and plan on doing it to this truck also. I want to clean as much crud out of the tanks as well but dont know if there are any products that I could use to "swish" around in the tank to remove the rust, then drain it out.
I say get your truck all nice and legal, (and everything else that might cause a problem) then get a copy of codes and start going over the complainers property with a fine tooth comb. Chances are he's in violation of something stupid and petty as-well.
Has anyone here ever removed and cleaned out the air tanks?
It was warm enough today for me to go out and play alittle. I put a bolt in the winch so I could wind the winch cable back onto the drum a little cleaner than that last guy did. (I know, I know, use the proper shear pin) When I got...
Do you mean if you take the tire off the mount it will dump? or do you mean it would dump before you mounted the holder and spare tire? If I remember the pics I saw, the mount is bolted to both the box and the frame. Lets see some pics so we know what your working with.
It looks ok but if I were doing it I would remove the outer hoops. (from the headlights out) Maybe fab up something from the bumper up to protect the turn signals and the front of the fenders.
