Did you clean the catch filter on the air feed to the ctis valve body? Its possible the pressure transducer is bad and telling the system you have reached 60psi when really there is only 40. You could also have several small leaks that can confuse the system but not big enough leaks to fault the...
It's not like the mil trucks are the only oversize vehicles people push the limits in. I see triaxle dumps and other heavy haulers flyng down the highway all the time. In my civ car if traffic is flowing at 80 in the number one lane I have no problem crusin along. I can't tell you how many times...
That's what's supposed to happen. When you were driving air was moving thru the radiator cooling the system. When idling not moving you don't get the same airflow as driving. When you get to around 200deg the fan automatically comes on. Usually only for a short time it moves a lot of air and the...
I have diff oil coming out my hub. I looked at the TM it was a little confusing to me on which seal separates the gear oil from the grease. I could just do what Ron recommend with the wet hub. But my truck is an A2 with ctis. Will diff fluid get into the ctis system if the hub is full of it? The...
I would be brave and go for it then. With the Skytrak 5.9 engines the older ones use rotary ve style pumps and different injectors. Newer ones use the bosch inline style like our a2 trucks 8.3. I believe there are 3 main variants from the late 80s to now. I don't know if the blocks are actually...
Call cummins tech support give them his engine serial number and your block part number they are very helpful. I don't know about pulling and reusing sleeves.
No one is a capable operator in a 5ton at 80mph. Just because you can do it dosnt mean you should. I can see finding an empty highway and creeping up into the low 70s for a few seconds just to see but cruising at 80 is just asking for trouble.
With one or two clicks of the gov springs an A2 truck will easily go 80mph. I don't advise it though. The 6cta motor is military goverened at around 2100 rpms but with minor mods it will happily rev well over 3k. At 2100 rpms you can do around 70mph. You will kill your ctis hub seals going fast...
The truck is a 2011 rebuild with only a few miles past rebuild. The alt makes no power. I have a repair manual for the regulator it's just been so darn cold and snowy. I tried the voltage adjustment and checked contacts with no good results.
You can put the Schrader valves back in and be fine. The system is sending air but since air is escaping thru bad hub seals, less than the intended pressure is reaching the wheel valves. It is enough pressure to hold the wheel valves open a bit and the system is dumping air. It just dosnt know...
Cant you use an electric controller that taps off a brake light? You can use a relay and tap 12v between the batteries for actuation if it wont take a 24v input. I dont see how you would use a separate battery for trailer lights control unless you used a relay for each function.
I have a 160 amp 24 volt alt that looks about the size of the one in the pics. It has a serp pulley. The mounting is slightly different but looks like it could be made to work.
I wouldn't have done it. That's how it came. And it dosnt work right it needs a new regulator that no one seems to have. I found a used on on ebay that looks like it got thrown out the window and run over. It hasn't arrived yet though. Southern says they are not making that part this month...
Some of them will make power spun in either direction. Niehoff has a lot of info available on their site. You may have to look up the regulator separate from the alternator.
