I was just up at the Rausch Creek parking lot at 1400. All is well. The men have staged a parking area for the rest of you guys. It was NOT raining at the time I was there at the park but I think 30 minutes later it was. I have a bit of rain fall 35 miles to the south of Rausch Creek. Five miles...
Tailgates and the rear glass are not something to ignore maintenance on. They are easy to break. I have taken few gates apart that did not have the remnants of several rear windows in the bottom inside of the gate.
That steering pump you found does have 3 hoses. 1 a high pressure 1 a low pressure return from steering box and 1 a low pressure return from the brake booster. That civilian remote reservoir is a better set up then having to reach under the belt to get to the fill/check cap. Good find.
The one from LMC is sort of bland looking. It lacks the Bow-tie and is very thin at the corners that are already thin. I have a few of the OEM CUCV grilles and bezels but they are NOT cheapo's. Good original parts you will have to pay for or use salvage yard OEM parts. I grab every grille I see...
It is one of my favorites. This did require changing the radiator support. The wiring harness worked just fine with the quad head lamps. My Son is taking this M1028A1 to Rausch Creek on Saturday.
Take the new grille and cut the holes in it where you need them. i have done it on several grilles. i like the 87 grille best. i have used the 1991 grille also and cut out the holes.
This is a picture I just took 5 minutes ago. I got WOOD. It is all seasoned oak boards 2" think. I will be up to deliver the goods in the evening. I hope about the same time as now. Fast forward 24 hours. Am I there yet? I left room for 60 mudflaps and about 10 sets of tail lamps. Same rule as...
Joe will you let me drive the HMMWV?:-) Do you need any of the big rubber mud flaps? And also I have a ton of freebie tail lamps. They are not military but they are great for trailers trucks and the likes. Many have the amber turn signal on them. Let me know. That goes for anyone else. I can...
Friday lunch time. You may have a long wait till some else gets there. That is a desolate place out in the middle of no where. My Son and I are coming up on Friday night just for a look/see and then we will return with our trucks bright and early Saturday morning. We are going out just as soon...
Tonight I took advantage of the 80 degree weather and finished sanding and primed the underside of the M1008 cab assembly. I used Rustoleum industrial Shop coat gray primer. It has great coverage and makes a nice job. I will let it dry well then paint and undercoat the entire cab assembly. The...
No insulation on the steel walls, ceiling and floor don't help either. Really it's a CUCV. When I drive a CUCV in summer I sweat in the winter I can roast and the other discomforts just go with the vehicle. In my case I bought a 1996 CUCV at a police auction. It turned out being a CUCV= Civilian...
Scattered Rain Shower possible Saturday. In the 50's is nice 4 wheeling weather. The scattered showers help keep the mud fresh. The cooler weather is nice for a fall jamboree. And always keep in mind you only need to have 2 vehicles to go out as a group. You do NOT need to follow the others that...
I know they make a resistor to put in truck tail lamps so the ECM can send the correct flashes per minute when LED's are applied. So I do not see why you could not get a resistor in the circuit to make it work. I am not sure of what your gain would be by having LED idiot lights. I would see no...
I am having difficulty loading pictures again today. I have them trying to load on another screen. not sure what is wrong. Today I sent the good Woman to the Dayco spring dealer in Harrisburg PA. I bought all new springs and all the hardware to install them. Including all shackles and the rear...
That was me diving in the last time at Rausch creek. it was a stress test for Terminus M1009. It found the leaking rear main seal. And I have since did the repairs to that. Other then changing the oil and filter greasing the chassis everything is good to go.
Anyone need me to bring some mudflaps up with me. So far I have 10 sets for a member. If you want some they are the HD rubber flaps and they are FREE. They are the larger ones from big trucks. Various trademarks and advertising on some. Most are just plain black HD rubber. Let me know. I am...
I have the M1008 cab off the cart and laying on the cab back. I have a pile of cardboard and fire blankets to cushion the cab back. I cleaned the entire underside of the cab off with DX 330. It is a wax and grease remover. I then hand scuffed the entire underside with 3M scotch pads brown grade...
