The Army brought several toys to the event for us to play with, this was my favorite. PLS.....:drool::drool:
That machine is surprisingly quiet when operating.
It looks nice next to my 813, I suppose I shall have to get one...
The armoured Humvee was pretty cool too, had 157 miles on...
It was 107* on the farm yesterday, rain is a distant memory, my pond is just a dried up depression in the ground, and yet I got bitten by a solitary mozzie..... Where do they come from?? They can be bad out there of an evening.
Funny thing is they seem to be very localized. I have never...
.50 cal damage
Okay B3.3T, I finally found the pictures of the damaged V150 in the murky depths of my photo files (at least I think these are the ones I had in mind, I remembered them somewhat differently).
They are not the best quality, but good enough to show what looks like a .50...
Think maybe the tires are actually the Western European MPTs? They come in sizes to fit anything from a jeep-type vehicle on up to the big Faun and MAN trucks, they were made by a variety of manufacturers.

Well Mark, the entertainment value of reading about a recovery from your own driveway is somewhat lacking, but it must be nice to have one go like that for a change!
I knew you couldn't resist the 'big iron' much longer, good catch on that one.
Cheers
From what I know of your V, you got a really good one, congratulations! Glad your fuel issue worked out fairly simply. It looks great in the woods.
Cheers
I just watched a documentary, The Full Blade, on the 1/9 Marines in Vietnam in 1966.
There is some very clear footage of a deuce driving by (in the field, carrying troops). Looks to be painted Marine Green, no markings at all on the front bumper, had USMC 188954 painted on the side of the...
Glad the recovery went well, nice truck.
I'm glad to see the kid on board, stuff like that is really important and makes a life-long impression on them. I remember my dad taking me to the docks in Dublin when I was about 6 to see the new army trucks being delivered (Unimogs and some Bedford...
I will second what Kenny and others said, and base my opinion on personal experience.
I made a tow with the bumper shackle pins and came uncomfortably close to finding out exactly how safety chains work. As it turned out I was lucky, all that happened was the diaper pins sheared and the tow...
Not really, but many... very many....
I will be glad when it is over, and I can just drive around in it. Hopefully the hours doing that will also be many..
Cheers
Thank you Chris for starting this ball rolling, and to all of the behind-the-scenes folks who help keep the place going.
I have "met" some really great people on here, whom I would have never known were it not for this forum. I use the term "met" since I wouldn't recognize most of you if we...
While working the air out of the hydraulic system, the steering got harder and harder to operate. Turned out that the power steering proportioning valve was hooked up in reverse, so when the mechanical steering was turning the wheels left, the power was trying to steer to the right! Doh!! Once...
