Agreed, the .50 and its 12.7mm cousin are very dangerous guns. I have a pic somewhere (can't find it, still looking) of a Philippine V150 that took a .50 round near the front right side vision block, knocked a chunk out of the hull. I guess it wasn't at 45*!
Fortunately for those inside the V...
Sam, I can tell you about the subtle differences between forty shades of green, but I can honestly say "I don't know" to your question! And I may have heard her wrong, I know she said Lilac somewhere in that string of words, but such discussion causes me to take on the same glazed expression as...
Looking good Sam.
As noted in the other thread, Pinky was really painted pink, it was not faded red. We looked at areas protected from the sun and saw the original pink colour (the GF has since informed me that it is actually Lilac. I told her boys don't understand such differentiations of...
Correction taken B3.3T, and that is why I used the terms "almost all" and "appropriate". :-D Despite what some think, there are no absolutes when it comes to MVs, and always exceptions to the rules. We can stay with the V100 as an example. It was stated in another thread here a while back...
Maybe I didn't word that clearly - the hatch in front does NOT have to be open to operate, it can be opened as needed to draw air through the hull for ventilation or to draw smoke out of the interior during festivities. So long as the air comes through the box, the radiator doesn't care if its...
Chicken!! Ya coulda had a great photo op if you could have got him stopped..
From what I have seen, Alan's work is always good. His Dayton show winner inspired me greatly.:drool:
If this is the V we think it is, I'm sure the new owner will give us a good look in the near...
Thanks EZ. The upper frontal armour and turret front is 3/8", the rest is 1/4". Belly is either 3/8" or 1/2" depending on the reference source, my V100 manual says 3/8". All is 500 hardness, which makes it very strong for its weight/thickness, but also prone to stess cracking. Supposed to be...
Steve, is that as big as those pictures get? Even grainy, we could probably make out more detail if they were somewhat bigger.
More than likely it is the early V100 that belongs to another SS member, it should be due to travel to him about now.
Cheers
In order to show the upper radiator mounts in more detail I cropped the big picture to just that area, hopefully it will post more clearly.
Also, there is a box that forms an intake tunnel for the radiator. The top seals with foam/rubber to the intake in the top door (under the pagoda), the...
In response to a request for some details from Shane, who is building/detailing a 1/35th scale V100 model (nice work so far) -
The batteries mount in two simple racks just inside and below the engine access door. They are held down by a bracket on top with two J-hooks that latch into loops on...
Shane, sorry, I missed this when you posted it. Hopefully these will suit your needs, if not let me know, I'll take some more.

It is an XM705, competitor to replace the M37 series.
Had a GM 307 V-8, 144hp. 4-speed transmission, 2-speed transfer case.
Weight 6929 #
204"L x 84"W x 73"H (cab) to 104"H (bows)
WB 133" Tires 9.00x20
Said to be an excellent performer, but too expensive to produce at $5400 each. Lost...
When my left rear brakes dragged badly on the M813, they would break loose if I backed up on the shoulder and braked hard. Next brake application locked it down again, so repeat the process as necessary. That got me off the highway and back to my shop at least, since I wasn't going to be able...
Glad you got back okay Mark, and sorry you had such a bad time and were alone. Such things are better shared. That way at least you get an encouraging harumph from your compatriot whilst spewing vitriol that would embarrass the most experienced seafaring man. You no doubt recall us doing that...
Cheeky git??? I haven't been called that in a long time!rofl
From her expression, I think perhaps Her Majesty may have just seen Pinky and be told its her new ride.
Cheers
Sam, you are taking Pinky on Saturday???
We were just talking and realized that due to uh... commitments (yeah, that's it), we can't leave at the same time as you to convoy up.
Not sure when you are leaving, but we can't leave then....
:-D
Cheers
The turn signal should over-ride the brake light on that side, at least it does on all of the numerous Deuces that I follow behind on a regular basis.
The brakes do over-ride the 4-way flashers though.
Cheers
Not losing the heat was the basic idea, ie an engine that could withstand/absorb all its own heat generated and therefore not need a cooling system, since the cooling system was reportedly responsible for over 50% of the military vehicle failures.
IF I recall correctly, the 5-ton was based on...
