I have no problem keeping up with traffic in any of my 6.2 equipped trucks..I live in the S.F. Bay Area, where you can't drive 55! As Sammy Hagar says. It's probably just me....I've been driving these trucks for so long both in the military and civ side, it just don't bother me.
Can you verify the glow plugs you installed are 24v and not 12v?
Also, keep using that starting fluid and you won't need to worry about a glow plug light...you won't have an engine to start.
I see a lot of Jeeps being towed to the Rubicon here in calif, the reason for that is simple, gearing....your trying to get the best of both worlds, speed and torque out of an off road vehicle. Your problem is not the motor, your missing a 4th gear to get you to the next level, but when mated to...
Why the **** anyone buys a hummer or hmmwv to go fast has perplexed me for the last 20yrs.
That goes hand in hand with "its wet, it's noisy, it's cold", so my suggestion is still a Prius.
Most folks I know that replaced a motor in there Hummer's with a gasser put in a 502 big block. There was a...
yea, sure you can....LOL I have a compressor, have for years and done more then my fair share, like once a month.
there is no getting one in and out in 15mins. They are a PITA, but AFAIC, they are a must have.
I sure as heck don't want to go 80mph in a Hmmwv, I can do 75 in my 98 H1...but I don't and won't.
Your hmmwv was not built for those speeds...but folks are going to do what they want to do.
Being i do this everyday, I find just the addition of the 4L80E is night and day for drive-ability, but...
The problem is that it starts to get expensive throwing parts at a problem, especially electrical.
a new engine harness is relatively simple to install and takes any guess work out of any bad connections.
And in the end you need run to run your gasser as what RPM to get the same torque from that old diesel?
these aren't race cars, they are military vehicles.....plus, real trucks don't have spark plugs.
Your regulator is shot....your going to blow up your batteries if you keep running it at that voltage.
27.5 is where you should be.....it's not adjustable on the 100/200amp.
not only will you have piece of mind knowing your box and glow plugs are new, you will no longer have the annoying after glow for 2 mins with the S3. I personally have had no issues with them....I have installed more then I can even begin to remember. Your box will come wth a new temp sending...
Your most likely going to fry another set of glow plugs....you also need the glow plugs to start the truck any time it starts and is below a certain temp...makes no difference if it's in calif in the summer time and it's the first start of the day.
the EESS is the core of the starting system...
You need to pull the glow plugs and test them for continuity...and inspect them.
loose the green label box, they suck too, they don't use a temp sender in the water crossover, it's all encompassed into the box, the green label box Cycles the glow plugs "every time " the truck is started...
First of all, you don't need to pump the pedal to start a Hmmwv, the Cold start advance is electrical, the CSA is 24v normally closed circuit from the right rear engine thermostatic switch, opens at 90-120 degrees and shuts off the CSA.
you need to pull all the GP's and test them, if the voltage...
The cost of the kits on epay are the price of just the wiring harness if you had to buy it from my distributor.
The tach is also different then what's been being sold, by different I mean the connector, the ones in the WS kits have a single cannon plug, the ones for the engine cover are spade...
