Did anyone buy one of the HMMWVs recently on sale?

Today was cheap....going to drop below 10k in the next few rounds...or even round. eastern trucks trucks look much nicer.....Barstow trucks look crappy.

    Power steering and brake noise

Pump, hydro boost, low fluids...or more common, air in the system....possibly even a bad stearing gear. first add the correct fluid...that would be DOT5...very common to see them mixed with 5 and 3...5 this would not be good and needs to be flushed all the way through. One is silicone, the...

    Steering Gear Box

Depends on where it leaking from...99% of the time it's the shaft seal. problem is, you will have to remove it, fix it, install it and see if that fixes it...I generally just replace the box. you can get them at local auto part stores....just them them its a 92-99 hummer H1, last time I bought...

    White smoke on startup

amd may I add, you also loose coolant...eventually if it's a head gasket issue, as well you can look to see if you have bubbles in the overflow tank when you first start and it's cold. The 97-2000 6.5 turbo diesel has/had the #8 cylinder crack issue...this was evidenced by white smoke at...

    White smoke on startup

A little hard at that temp...your going to have alot of vapor anyway. if its fine during warmer wheather...its most likley fine. If you store it indoors and start cols is easier to tell. Even my 98 turbo wagon stumbles when its that cold here in cali. You could put in a block heater...cheap and...

    White smoke on startup

If it has old fuel I would drain the tank as well and put in fresh diesel. but white smoke is only 2 thing in a diesel...water vapor from a bad head gasket, or more commonly unburnt fuel due to a bad glow plug...always on startup. black is excess burnt fuel...

Did anyone buy one of the HMMWVs recently on sale?

Sell more...then all the folks who bought high, and there is quite a few, will be hating life. For the cost of a lot of these, I do 6.5 with 4l80e and 242 tcase for the same price, if not lower in some cases. im more interested in some of the parts trucks...I see those declining in auction value...

    White smoke on startup

I pull, test and for the most part replace all the plugs with non-swell GP's on ANY new truck I get into the shop....be it mine or a customers. another reason is to make sure none of them are swelled or the GP is seized in the head...once removed, I use anti- seize on the threads for easy...

    White smoke on startup

You most likely have a bad glow plug...it's not the cold advance, because the cold advance stays advanced for longer then 30-90seconds, it stays advanced till the engine temp hits 120 deg. pull all your plugs and meter them, if fine then check your GP connections and voltages.

Question on IP fuel return & No start

Oh...did it run fine with the leaky pump?

Question on IP fuel return & No start

I would pull the injectors and have them pop tested as well, also install new drain back lines. I have had my fair share of rubuilt pumps, both mil and civ that have failed. So yes...another pump is warrnanted...assuming you have fully bled the fuel system....some are much harder then others.

Question on IP fuel return & No start

If you pull a Glow plug, is it wet with fuel? If it is, I suspect your not getting voltage to your Glow plugs. as you stated, try advancing the IJ pump, turn toward driver side...make sure whoever put in the IJ pump that the stud went in the Oval hole and Not the round hole....common...

    HMMWV questions

Next is braking, all the new trucks are 12k halfshafts and larger rotors, either solid or vented, the newest models have the wilewood brake setup with the Shepard steering box, ultra HD...

    HMMWV acquisition and rebuild

slantbacks are terrible...yes, I own one, but if you want to go fast, not get stuck and worst, get rained on while in the cab, go with a soft top...its a no brainier. Hey, but that's just me...and I drive them 7 days a week.
