    Neutral safety switch

There are 3 wires...1 is for the 24v lamp that lights the Shift indicator...usually,has a red tie wrap on it, the other 2 are the NSS. If you were to plug those to into each other with an adapter, you bypass the NSS, it would be the 2 in the harness, not the 2 from the shifter. The other similar...

    Neutral safety switch

Can you start the truck in gear? If no, NSS is working...if it starts is gear, NSS is bad.

What did they do to this beauty?

These are are not actual 2009's, that would make it an M1113 or other variant with 6.5turbo, 4L80E trans and 242 tcase. any of the gov planet trucks dated above 1990's is a truck that had the data plate repopped at some level of maint or overhaul.

    Just purchased 1991 Humvee M998

no need to replace a trans cuz it leaks...they can leak from a few known points. Get it clean and see where the leak is coming from...the hardest to repair is the shaft seal for the torque converter...that requires the tranny comes out, but is a,10min job once out. Also, make sure it's trans and...

    Neutral safety switch

You can bypass the NSS, just plug the harness into it self...if it fried, it might be closed...I would check it with a meter. or can you start the truck in drive is another test.

    Transmission leakage/electrical question

This is is all normal, you most likely have a yellow label KDS EESS. The reason for your voltage drop on startup is simple, you are energizing 8 glow plugs, thus it's pulling a load on the battery's, once the timer expires and the wait light goes out, the needle will move to yellow range, this...

    Starter not engaging problem suggestions?

i would think so...it's just like any other starter. Just remind them it's 24v. it sounds like the armeture is out of adjustment....over time, I could see the adjusting nut loosening up. Remember, if it's spinning, that means no teeth are engaged, thus it did not shoot out far enough. You do...

    Starter not engaging problem suggestions?

Is the shim installed? Also the starter could need a good going through. funny thing on shims....I have used them and not used them...with never any sort of issue either way. but it's worth a try. if the Bendix is not engaging and just spinning, that means it's not extending out far enough to...

Some got no bids at 10k....I know a few folks who bought...not sure why, just going to get cheaper. Non runners are 5k, and that's to much, cuz you can get a runner for 10k...a new motor will set you back 3500.00
