Sir, I wish you had been as well. I'm not the greatest caretaker of "Proud American" and I'll be upfront about that. I'm sure you've heard about the white paint on the passenger side of the bumper on the lower edge. I'm sure you've heard about the hood flying back after the generator change...

    If you had to choose....

What are your plans for your "Fun Truck"? That factors in. The M35A2 is a nice truck as it can go down trails that normal vehicles can. You can do the same with the M923A1 and those trucks are awesome as well, they just require a little backing up and 3 to 6 point turns on some of the tighter...

    Identify this turbo

Day late and dollar short on this reply. That is certainly an LDS 427 turbo. Dead giveaway is the bulky inlet compressor body. I've heard that those are the cat's Meow of turbo's on a Deuce.

NOS USMC M1028 from Norway Storage

DMLII, You have to remember that my truck was never assigned to a unit. It was a prepositioned asset so it has only the bare minimum markings that would identify it as a Marine Corps truck. The only "unique" markings are the "Site Code B" markings on the front bumper and tailgate. Those...

I forgot to include that it'll still get driven at least once a month. These old trucks don't like to sit!!! When I say driven, Brandon told me about the Mack ENDT 673. It'd want to run to the house once a month and burn about 4 or 6 gallons of Diesel and that truck would be more than welcome...

If I wind up with "Proud American", it'll have to go into one of my dehumidified warehouse's until I can build one in my yard. Dehumidified Storage is why I have a 1985 Chevy on factory tires that still hold air in my 6,259 mile M1028 CUCV. Proud wouldn't sit in my front yard as she's too...

I'm still wondering how to get in PB's Will? I've had some great memories hanging out with the CAMO Crew over there in Columbus. I've probably damaged more stuff than I've helped. Ask PB about the 2011 Rally trip from Columbus to Union Point and he would likely tell you that it was the worst...

    What's your Deuces' name?

Simply named as "Big Trucks" by my oldest son about 4 years ago. The oldest is 7 and the youngest is 5 now. The other truck is a M1028 and his name is "Sarge".

I'm being silly but "what's NMC"? I think everything will be just fine and I won't likely get to tow anything. To keep my own card from being pulled, NMC means Non Mission Capable. I can bring a Hunter Medium but I only have 1 inch feet. I had some 3/4 inch feet but I gave them back to...

Happy with my assignment of "Wrecker Operator". That's what I do in the National Guard!!! I've never had an M816 but I have served on an M936A2 and the retrieval system is basically the same and the crane is exactly the same. Should be fun and I'll be there Saturday and will be arriving with...

best place to buy replacement glow plugs

Seems that alot of people use the AC60G's!!! Me too and no issues since I put them in. I went through a set of Wellman's in one winter and I had done the 12V "remove the resistor" mod before I put the Wellman's in. Won't go back to them as it was a pain to get them out as 5 of the 8 had...

NOS USMC M1028 from Norway Storage

The Marines have for years assigned a TAMCN number to assets. The D at the beginning of it tells me that it was a "Motor T" asset. The other 4 numbers referred to a configuration of an assigned asset. You can have two vehicles of the same NSN configured differently, you refer to the TAM...

Leesburg GA Christmas Parade including my New Truck

Looking to see if I can get anymore entries. I've got to turn it in by the 22nd of November. So far we have 1 M1028 CUCV truck, 1 M35A2 under it's own power, 1 M1151 4 door "mock" armored HMMWV (looks real, doors are thinner), 1 M1089A2P1 (new, 675 miles, with LTAS cab) Wrecker, 1 M35A2 being...

PB, I didn't see if you posted it but what is SP time from the Compound? I want to make sure I'm about 30-45 minutes early to do a once over of my assigned truck. I'll promise to make sure the hood securing system is in place and secure. That only has to happen once in a lifetime. I touch...

    CUCV towing issue

I pulled a M1101 home tonight. It's only 1,500 hundred pounds and I still charged up hills with my M1028. I guess it depends on your definition of hills. No turn ups on my truck. It's just new with just over 6,200 miles showing.

I should also say that I apologize but have complied with alot of people who have followed this thread from the start. I owe an explanation if you will. I wanted to lift this truck and make it into one heck of a trail blazer. If you go a few pages back, you'll learn that my youngest son...

First 9. I should add that the random sprays of tan or brown are not paint marks. I live on a light tan sandy dirt road and the GA Rally had some brownish red clay this year. When clean, the truck has no random spots with one exception. When it was new, someone drove over a freshly painted...

    USMC markings?

Not sure how I missed your comments either. Shoot me a PM and I'll give you an e-mail address to message me at. I'll send you a TM that discussed the converting of about 1,500 USMC trucks from M54's to M809 Series trucks. Some where made A1's in that conversion as well.

DML, I'll have to get to work. You can see the stenciled markings in my first 2 posts in this thread but I'll do you one better. I'll try to take some pics with a ruler so that you can see exactly where they are in reference to some surrounding objects such as mirrors, windows, tailgate...
