    Oil Leak

Totally agree. After having to dig out a busted 45-degree brass fitting on the block I went out and bought a "stainless steel" 45-degree fitting and used stainless steel PTFE hose. Has worked great ever since, and will out live my son ! My grandson will like that ! At least I hope he does.

    Reconditioning M135 Wheels

A good sandblaster can rip that rust right off. The problem is finding one. Around here I have to drive North to "Marysville" to find one. That's a 60 mile round trip.

M35A2 -good fuel to mechanical pump but dribbles from outlet?

I normally would not suggest this. It is more a last resort kind of thing, but plug the fuel line at the tank and remove the line from the filter to the injection pump. Using a blow gun apply air to the lines. Have someone go along the lines and see if they can find a leak. It will be a small...

Best gear oil in 2.5 ton axle

Why would you stick your "Johnson" in a light socket ? So you don't like my little " Life lessons" ? I guess you had to be there to appreciate it. I also agree that there are quite a few good mechanics here. Also there are several who are not mechanics but have learned a lot about the Deuce in...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I can see in the front view shot that your wheels have to much "Toe-In" . It's either that or your "Camber" is very "Negative" . Either way you might want to take your truck in for an alignment. On another topic, I like that you went with the Harbor Freight "Badlands winch". I own several and...

    MEP-531a

It would stand to reason that the break-in should be the same. I would do it just to be safe. It doesn't hurt or cost anything to do it. Just a little time. After all you should replace the engine oil after the first 20 hours anyway on any engine.

Best gear oil in 2.5 ton axle

Like "41cl8m5" mentioned, there was no easy way to get 140W gear oil back then. I know as that was when I was only working on gears. All day long, everyday. After a few years of nothing but gear work I got pretty sick of them for a while. As far as the weight of oil in cold or hot environments...

M35A2 -good fuel to mechanical pump but dribbles from outlet?

Did you change out the fuel pump hose when you replaced the pump ? They don't last forever. Remember to replace it with a submersible rated hose. Also check all the copper lines for any nicks and gouges. These could be potential leak points where the fuel is picking up air from.

Best gear oil in 2.5 ton axle

For a hot environment 85W-140 is a good oil to use. Further North like Michigan you should use a 85W-90 weight especially in winter. Here in the Pacific Northwest since it normally doesn't get as cold as Michigan I can use a 85W-90 to 85W-140 weight . It all depends on price for me here. Just...

M35A2 -good fuel to mechanical pump but dribbles from outlet?

There is a pressure relief valve on the side of the pump you can remove and see if there is gunk inside. If there is and you don't clean it out you could damage the pump, possibly breaking the shaft.

    Oil Leak

Your oil pressure is 7 Ibs ? You need to stop driving this truck and fix your oil leak now ! You also need to read the "Operator Manual" so this doesn't happen again. You could have seriously damaged your engine ! Also that oil line must be replaced ! Never use "clamps" on any oil pressure line !

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

Just use the same bore size as the A3 style master cylinder. Off the top of my head I believe it is 1-3/8" . Or is it 1-1/2" ? All the master cylinders that fit our 4 bolt mounting will be almost identical in length, at least that is what I have found.

    Special M35 steering gear project

I have so much to accomplish this summer to be able to make the trip in 2019. Finish this steering project, perform a complete brake job, replace the "trunnion" grease seals (got damaged) , rebuild the transmission, replace the alternator with a 33Si 100 amp unit, finish painting the bed, and...

    Special M35 steering gear project

Well all the machining is finally done on the steering gear ! It has only taken 5 months ! Now all that time was not spent on my gear alone, but a lot of the research was. I had this idea about using a standard Deuce steering gear in a power steering system. That way there is no special drilling...

    Dual Circuit Brake Engineering Thread

I believe you would run into legal problems real fast. The DOT really frowns on modifying brakes from the "norm" . Going to a modern dual master cylinder is fine. After all that is modern technology now. Adding calipers the same thing, but going with a weird dual "physically individual" master...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

You can find these "extenders" at any "Truck" supply store. The best are made from solid brass and screw into the tire fill tube. Some come with little mounting plates which can be helpful.
