    Brake Air Compressor Brand Reccomendation?

I agree with using the Bendix unit. That is the most popular brand in the trucking world today.

    breaking free stuck lug nuts

I assume your using that "made in China wheel torque multiplier" that sells for about $50.00 right ? If you had used a real multiplier (3:1 or 4:1, 1000 Ibs to 2000 Ibs output) they would have come off. That or the whole stud would have broken off. My 1" impact would also have taken it off. I...

This is a good oil. Though any honing oil will do. Most all Automotive Stores will carry a good honing oil.

    M35a2 oils

I bet if you went to a "Synthetic 50W gear oil" you would really feel some difference in shifting quality . I am surprised you where able to find some "Non-Detergent" oil. I haven't seen any in years now.

I wouldn't skip honing it. Just give it a little bit. You never know what is lurking inside that bore.

    Fording Project

There is a "electrical supply store" in Bellevue. About 45 minutes away from me. They have all kinds of stuff like small aluminum boxes for projects. I believe their name is "Vetco Supply" . I don't know if their a chain store or not.

    Steering gear bushings

The machine shop close to me charges $200.00 an hour with a minimum of 1 hr. So for $200.00 I will do the work myself.

Have you taken off the fuel line to the injection pump itself ? Try that and see how much fuel your getting there. Your not getting the fuel you need. If you have replaced all the filters (including the one on the passenger side) and your in-tank pump is working, then your boost pump might be...

    Fording Project

Here's my electrical diagram for the radiator fans. I still need to buy a small aluminum box for the relays, and then mount it near the radiator. I also have the two 24volt military fans ready to go. I will need to remove the radiator shroud though. I'm still waiting on a engine temperature...

1958 15 KW generator with HD260 continental diesel

In all honesty, run away !!! I had one once. They are great units when working properly. The problem is finding parts. Because of the age of this unit you will be replacing parts. In the end it was more of a headache then I needed. I ended up selling it at a loss. Made my wife so happy to see me...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

That is also a very good thing to always check. I had a diesel tractor that caught fire due to a small fuel leak on the exhaust manifold. Thankfully we where able to put out the fire. Just smothered it with dirt. Scared the crap out of us though ! We never even knew there was a leak it was so small.

Your correct about the governor moving that lever. There is no physical connection from the outside throttle control to the fuel control lever. The fuel pedal (throttle) puts pressure against the governor which then decides how much fuel is allowed to flow. That's why at 2800 rpm, you can push...

No. When the lever is installed into the fuel control shaft it is at a 90 degrees angle. So even if you "flipped it" it would still be 90 degrees. Sorry I wasn't on here earlier. I usually only get the chance to get online after 11:00 pm.

    Steering gear bushings

Just a side note on maintaining your brake hone. After using mine I clean it, and then fully back-off the tension nut. Then using a "plastic Ty" I wrap the arms tight. Now I can store it in my tool box without hurting the arms. I have several brake hones, some several decades old and all are...

    Steering gear bushings

I'm in the process of reworking some steering gears for a project I've been working on. I thought some here might want to know how to fit their bushings without the aid of fancy "burnishers" and "reamers" . Now normally you would use a "reamer" (pictured here) to size your new bushings or a...
