Yeah. Son put some of that stuff in his house.
It has been there for several years and it still looks as good as the day he installed it.
On the other hand - his house doesn't move or bounce or twist...

Sure looks neat. Yeah, I have no idea what holds it down... Wonder if the snap lock is at a slight angle and that helps keep it pressed in a downward direction? Still, seems like some sort of shoe molding would be required around the edges.

Welcome to the Outfit!
Since you have a little time, "belly up to the bar" and grab some TM's (Technical Manuals) to start learning about your New-To-You truck. TM's are in the Present Conflict section. Link below:

Gee... That is a "-10" TM on steroids. 8 hours worth of training time before you get cut loose with one. Hmmm. Almost wonder if the auction houses wouldn't do the world a favor if every buyer got one of these with their truck.
Put it in the air filter box - wedged against the intake -...

Welcome to the Outfit!
I have to echo @Guruman 's comment about drive lines. These trucks do just fine - if they are balanced and the slip yoke and the other end are indexed. They should be "keyed" but don't count on what a guy with steel marbles in a sandbox can't break.
For...

I can't speak to a #3 Grommet - but I know for sure that a #2 Grommet measures 3/8 of an inch inside. Got one laying here on my desk. Whipped out a ruler and checked. Outside dimension is 3/4 inches.

Used to be that hitting those piston tops (NOT in the ring lands!) with a bead blaster was a good thing... Cleanliness is next to godliness in motor repairs.

I'm with you! Manual gearbox is just so nice. That is almost a lost art... At 62, I still enjoy stepping through the gears on a manual transmission. The left leg still works just fine and my hearing works well enough to hear the sounds that sync the driver with the truck.

Here in the North Carolina, they set appointments and will inspect vehicles. They are pretty good folks too. Willing and Interested is a nice way to describe them. Their official role isn't ticket writing and most of the guys who do that work do actually have some mechanical aptitude. Part...

Wow! Real Leather seats and dash pad... How cool would that be!?
My dog would definitely be in heaven. He always has sensory overload when we go to the local construction store in the "leather gloves" section. No chewing. Just standing in front of the display sniffing deeply...
.
Well Dang! That is pretty neat... Bet nobody else has one mounted in their truck. Especially since your own looking kinda says the same thing. Yes, bless your poor children. :) Their daddy got bit by the Green Bug like the rest of us...
Looks like you and the family had a good time at...

Wonder if Freightliner Daimler-Benz has some sort of "flat panel dash" on one of their trucks? As many trucks as they build, you would think they would have the latest and greatest in fancy. They are building prototypes of their self-driving trucks. Makes you wonder if that might be...

That's pretty crummy. Somehow though people like that continue to stay in business. I understand a warranty - but slipping in the sneaky way for the vendor to get out of it "Just Ain't Right". Then again too, I guess that reading the paperwork is what we have to do to survive.
I agree that...

I hate to say it, but it's the gooberment.
They all have the same book.
But each one one of them interpret it differently.
Each state is different too, but as a private individual with a historic and collector vehicle - generally - the DOT folks and the local police will leave you alone...

It has been a long time since I last changed oil seals, but I do remember that it was never a quick easy job. I personally would always "Test Fit" the seals on the axle before hammering them into the hub. You can't feel that fit while holding a hundred pounds of drum and cramming it onto the...

Best thing for you to do is to "Do The Time". You have already done the crime  (so to speak). It isn't sexy. It won't be fun. To be honest, nobody but you will ever know that it was done... Sad really.
The thing to do is remember that you have a twenty year old truck. It was built for...
