I really hate rats ! Good job killing that thing ! I also hate field mice. They can do so much damage especially since they can crawl into really small places and wreck havoc on your vehicle. We've been having a problem with both lately getting into our cars and trucks.
What happens around here is all the new construction. They remove a ton of trees and leave the nicest to be all pretty pretty ! What they forget is these trees grew up with the surrounding trees as support in wind storms. Without there fellow brethren to help block the wind they get the full...
I totally agree Guyfang. These Yanmar engines are really one of the best kept secrets in the small diesel engine world. They are little marvels in my opinion ! No wonder the military used them so much.
Actually I don't remember, but I was referring to a truck I had actually seen in person. I've seen many pictures of nice maintenance trucks but only a few that I could touch.
Hey Ahab, do you still have any pictures of your truck handy ? Just to refresh my memory. :-D
OK for all your "experience" you didn't even realize you are NEVER suppose to drive foam filled tires on the road ? How in the world are we suppose to respond to such a dangerous thing ? You say you have a class "A" CDL, well I have had one now for 40 years and everyone who has a Class "A" knows...
I'm very aware of the dangers in driving 2 wheel vehicles ! My father owned an "Indian Chief" after the war and would drive up to visit his sweetheart ( my mother) . He drove over a steel bridge with that funny metal grating in a rain storm and lost total control of the bike. Thankfully he...
I knew they where getting scarce but I think there are a few places that will still rebuild the Torque Converters. Give "All Automatic" a call. Their number is 800-461-5396. They have the AT500 series converters for sell. As far as the seals go, they all should be available and of good quality...
The problem with all "clear" fuel hoses is they are not really rated for fuel. They can function for awhile but go bad pretty quickly. The hoses on the MEP-531a is a prime example. They must be replaced every 2 years. That is why I'm going with a real fuel rated hose this time.
If your just trying to get it home then plug the broken line. You don't need a pressure gauge to operate the truck. Once it is safe at home then you can go after all the problems.
We are being nice. We're trying to keep you alive ! I know you bought this great big "TOY" and want to play with it, but it is a serious vehicle that can and will cause great harm if not properly maintained. If money is tight then maybe you shouldn't be playing with such a large truck. Just...
I totally agree with you guys about the dangers of high voltage. We had the first hybrid bus in public transit. It was the Breda bus . Made by Breda in Italy. It ran on diesel until it went into the tunnels, then it switched to 700 volts DC on the overhead power lines. One of the regular...
The rubber bushings and 90 degree elbows hold up well. It's the hoses that crap out on you. Mine just developed a pin hole leak two days ago. That's why I know the fuel hose size !
I often wonder what ever became of the repair guy and his truck. I've never seen anything like since except in the Marines. You would think there would be a demand for this type of repair vehicle for all the machines that break down in the woods. I guess since the logging industry took a nose...
I got my idea from the MAN buses. They used square tube frames and closed cell expanding foam in them to keep out water and prevent rust. There idea worked great. So I cleaned my cab pockets and after using a good primer laid down a few coats of "Herculiner" . Then I added the expanding foam. I...
I really wanted a ROKON back in the late 1960's. Then a few years ago I looked them up on the internet and low and behold they are still produced ! Now I'm too old and damaged to drive one !
