Once you crank the truck it will run with the switch off......but your gauges will not work and your batteries may not charge....also no headlights, turn signals or brake lights.
I came over from Bama on Hwy 20 and hit 411 in Rome.....took 411 north and delivered the trucks to the east side of Cartersville....bout 5 miles from I-75.
Unloaded the Ranger and hauled boogie back to the LZ.
Actually I love the Cummins...Come-a-part is a term of endearment for those engines among truck drivers. Kind of like "Rattlepiller" for the CATs and "Driptroits".
I can walk through a truck stop parking lot and tell you what engine is in most trucks just by the idle sound.
Years ago I drove...
Is it a manned or unmanned site?
That will make a big difference in when you can visit.
Depending on the staffing at the active GL site they may only go to the unmanned sites they cover once or twice a month. This is the case in Albany, GA....pickup there can be an exercise in frustration...
There is also a fuse in the pump unit that will deadline it if blown. You have to get a slow blow fuse from NAPA or the like.
They are not cheap.....I paid a couple of bucks each but bought a bunch of them.
You will get a few more MPH but you will still have to run wide open to get it.
The 400 Come-a-part can be turned up to 2300 RPM and that will get you a little more speed...again running wide azz open.
Gearbound is gearbound.....the only way around it is to put in higher geared...
I picked up two trucks for fellow SS member Big Camo Truck last week and delivered them today.
One the way to my place the brakes on the towed deuce gave me a slight problem (almost locked up and started dragging) but I put a butt whipping on Mr Murphy and got to the LZ OK.
This morning I...
In my opinion it does.....even loaded, due to the heavy springs....but a lot of that is the worthless, built by the lowest bidder seat that they put in them. Riding shotgun in one is setting yourself up for hemroids that you can make washers out of.
We had 818's in that unit and if you had a...
Hawkshaw.....how far are you from Sand Rock (35983).....maybe we could get together and do some wrenching as Clinto said.
I need to do some work on the M275 to get it ready for the rally.
I have a lot of tools, a big arsed air compressor and 1", 3/4" impact wrenches.....I can spin six lug...
Mine is not 4WD.....just 2WD with 5 speed.
It gets great fuel milage and will boogie once you get it in the tall gear.
It has the Mitsubitsi engine in it.
My only gripe is that oil and fuel filters are dammed expensive.
When I saw it I was on it like a hobo on a ham sandwich.
I have...
The only thing that lies more consistantly than a career politician is a deuce fuel guage.
If you open the cap and cannot see fuel in the bottom of the strainer you are below half a tank.
I carry a paint stirring stick in all my trucks to "dip" the tank with.
After running out of fuel a...
That misbegotton POS was designed by a group of morons after lengthy consultation with a group of idiots.
That is the dumbest concept for a trailer I have ever witnessed......it is a tribute to planned obsolesence coupled with design flaws and proves that with the right lobbyist you can sell...
I will give you my input as someone who drove the M916 a lot in the Army and owned a M915.
We pulled D7 Dozers, 10K forlklifts and anything else that we could get on the lowboys we had.
The M916 has the same engine and tranny that the M915 (the ones I drove in the Army) had...that being the...
