I have all the original pieces ready to bolt on except I can't find the ramp. It's buried somewhere in my mess. I removed the parts from a canibalized M275A2 many years ago.
As far as restoration, this one will be getting the "motor pool" treatment, i.e. no frame-off restoration with...
Did the GMCs pull right out or did you have to jerk on them? I moved a derelict GMC a while back and it had sunk in like yours and was very difficult to pull out. Do they roll?
Wow cool recoveries. I think the blue is possibly Civil Defense paint. The 5A= 5th US Army, which is the US Army Reserve Command. 816 O not sure about.
The bed was from a M135 GMC, installed backwards. Right before the bed went to scrap, I noticed the step down platform was made out of the original 275 rear catwalk. It was too butchered to save, plus I have a catwalk already painted and ready to install.
iPhone pics emailed to PC and then uploaded to SS. Not sure about the old look. Sure wish pics uploaded directly would be right side up all the time.
The tractor would have had a 427 in it, but has a LDT now. It is set up to pull air brake trailers.
Last week in the "auction wins" thread I reported snagging this 1960 White M275A1 tractor from the GSA Texas Forest Service auction. I had to bid against the scrapper, so the winning bid was scrap price. Well I towed it home and spent a couple days de-brush trucking it and cleaning it up...
12 volt conversions of 24 volt trucks have been popular for vocational use of these trucks forever. Gut out all the 24 volt components including gauges, sending units, CTIS, ABS, lighting, PCB, starter, alt and replace with civilian off the shelf parts. Then put the 24 volt parts in the...
From what I have seen, 40 yr old Goats used hard by the military and later as brush trucks, and then parked under a tree for 20 years are going to need a total frame (tub?) up restoration. Thanks for the news update.
Stopped by the Friendly Rd location today. Lots of Wrangler R/Ts, low tread M/Ts. No 395s or 14s or 16s. Lots of M1000 HET trailer tires on rims (19.5). Some 11.00-20 and nice 9.00-20 NDCCs. Found a new 9.00-20 NDT for my WWII trailers. Some new (cute) faces in the office!
$2.00 a mile is a great rate for interstate hauling. Better get the runs/don't runs question figured out, lots of carriers are not set up with winch on capabilities.
The clutch fork has set screws if I remember that keep the clutch shaft from turning inside it. When you forced the lever, the fork would not move and the set screws cut grooves into the shaft. You're looking at disassembly/repairs to get the clutch working again. The lever is attached to the...
