That goat is about as nice as you are going to find. The TFS goats are crap compared to that one. Good luck with the steering, the system was problematic when still in service.
The spider in the hub concept is the most unusual powertrain design I have ever come across. Wheel end planetaries make so much more sense and are completely proven. Given that, these axles have been successful in the FMTVs since 1993. I don't think anyone knows how they will do approaching...
To do the calculation we will need to know the angle of your ramps. Assuming 30 degrees, the pull needed will be nowhere near 12,000 lbs for a rolling load. A single block halve the line speed and will give your better delicate control.
FMTVs did not have runflats, but 1st Gen Caiman MRAPs which use the same wheel and tire did use runflats, and there are lots of those available at the present due to the MRAP scrapping. Not real sure how to tell what is inside a 395 other than to weigh it.
There is no way for filings from the hub to make their way into the center axle differential. My guess is that the shock loading from crunching up your wheel end would not damage upstream powertrain items.
Flat towing should be fine, follow the TM. I would replace the wheel bearings in...
I think your broken nipple is just 3/8 NPT. Better bring an ez-out kit in case the broken part is still in the tank. A truck parts supply house should be able to match your relay valve based on the picture.
If your headlights work then the problem is not (the circuit breaker in) the 3 lever light switch. Is your flasher module grounded really well?
Edit to fix incorrect info.
Thanks. I tried to make this work but the designs always resulted in a utility back feed possibility, so I ripped out the wiring. I ended up with a system where the cable between my main panel and shop has to be manually transferred from the lugs on the main panel breaker to the lugs on the...
MK, if you want some more of these, there are 3 down the road from me, fresh from Ft Hood. By fresh I mean they came from there in the 80's and have sat inoperable in the weather ever since.
Feel all the ring terminals on the firewall buss bar for hot ones after cranking. Hot means high resistance and slow cranking. Mine had that problem. Remove and clean the connections.
