Sorry I have problems with my communication skills this week. Here is a pic of the fuel control assembly. This is the part I have found to get stuck most often. You had to remove it to get the head out. Now if the plunger sleeve was stuck to the plunger the fuel control would not move freely...
Sorry to derail your thread. If you could please let us know what you find that caused the wide open throttle and the problem that it caused. The wide open throttle problem has happened may times to others so don't feel to bad. I have always preached to leave the shut down cable pulled out. I...
Ok I had to do like you do correct a post. Yes I know how and why the IP works. I am in Virginia and not on my computer and this can be disused when I returned next week. As far as your answer to the OP broken spring yea you were 100% correct. Wide open throttle broke his spring. As far as you...
So you are saying we should not read the tm troubleshooting to find the problems. Don't let dog head see you said that. Trouble shooting step by step low fuel pressure overflow valve or bypass. Just because your gage did not read low enough to pick up a pressure reading it was there. Now if you...
What does the trouble shooting TM say? What the TM might say check idle and high idle fuel pressures. The tm does not talk about sticky fuel control assembly. We had the O ring / fuel control tighten down to where is was not sticky. Do you double check that real quick. I wanted you to...
The problem I have with that thought is it might not be the only way a spring can break. Lets take the case of Allen's truck. Here he had a broken spring but the fuel control assembly was working free and the plunger sleeve was not sticking on the plunger. I do not believe his truck ever went to...
How did you line up the Head pointer when you took the head out? When you rotated the engine and watched for the scribe to come up to the pointer then Head must have been rotating. Last time had to R&R the head and a no start the delivery valve needed to be removed and cleaned.
Plunger collar /sleeve Yes the plunger collar should float free and yes that is how you check it by turning the head up side down. The most common cause of wide open throttle is operator did not leave the shut down cable pulled out and left it pulled out when he was done with the truck. Now shut...
Fuel control assembly under the shut down cover on the side of the IP. You had to remove it to get the head out. Fuel control assembly stuck in the wide open position as said because tarnish on fuel control assembly shaft. Also you did not leave the engine cable shut down cable pulled out and...
Was the same master use on the AF Deuce as my A3. I have not crawled under it for 6 years. Was hoping to sell her as is but I might end up keeping it. If I keep her then a full axle service and check air pack and master. Tanks
Yes 1/2 and on yours the triangle tin cover might still be wired on. Just clip the wire and discard the tin cover. Twin nuts are under it. I ground down my lifter / pushrod wrench so I am only holding the inner nut with it and a regular 1/2 wrench on the outer jam nut. As said just make sure you...
