We must be missing something... I could swear that I have seen posts here saying folks had requested history on retired military vehicles. Maybe your letter to them has to say that you were requesting information on a "retired" vehicle. Maybe that way they dig through a different database...
There are air brake cans on the rear axle that are compressed with a bolt. Bolt should be stored on the side of the "can". Nut uses a 3/4" wrench. Don't try to go nuts and use an impact wrench... Take your time and stop turning the nut when it won't turn any more. Front brakes do not lock...

I couldn't tell you - but if it bothers you - don't hesitate to jump in your HEMTT and head on over to North Carolina. I will pay for your fuel and an airplane ticket home. Also promise that I will take good care of your truck
Third picture up from the bottom looks a lot like the...

I spotted a bigger question... You mention 10 feet wide in your post (#6). I found a Michigan post that says " Weekend movement is permitted for loads not exceeding 10' in width, 14' high, and 90' long."
Guessing that you have already got that problem solved.
Ten feet depending on the...

Welcome to the group!
From way over here in North Carolina... There are lots of people and information available for sharing!
Upload a few pictures to show off your "new to you" truck!
Don't hesitate to visit others @ Centralia. You might learn things there to make your work easier...

Really good advice. Walking among the trucks, talking to people who own them, asking questions and getting opinions... Heck of A Plan! There are several listings that I have seen in Michigan recently so there are definitely trucks close to you.
The Deuce is lighter than a 5-Ton but neither...

Problem with being 20 again is that I did some pretty stupid stuff after that birthday...
School of Hard Knocks taught me well. :)

Wow Floridianson . The IH Wrecker was pretty cool.
At least you found it a new home...

Absolutely!! What the heck IS that noise!?
Hey, I am almost back to normal.
Went for a ride yesterday and my depth perception is back to normal.
AND the honeybees were exonerated!
The ball of wasps under the fender of the jeep came roaring out a couple days
ago. Zipping all around...

If loudness can be fixed - I think maybe I bought the wrong truck(s)!
And, I suppose if noise bothered me I wouldn't be playing truck.
Say what?
What did you say?
Sorry, I couldn't hear what you said...
... over the noise of my truck.

Don't know for sure what the real purpose of the thing is, but there are TWO fuses @ 60 amps inside the case.
I don't think that I got a big bag of wires like that, but it is a really neat box...

Not an especially bad plan. Price it up, keep it and smile. Prices on these things aren't going down, so keeping what you have isn't a bad deal unless you want to trade for something else. I keep looking at a HEMTT but 50k makes me make funny sounds...
.
You mean your truck doesn't fix itself - while you could be sleeping!?
Sadly, that seems to be my problem too.
The second shift crew in my driveway seems to need to attend some sort of motivational seminar
.
Nice! At least you found a solution. Maybe the old compressor can be rebuilt with some gasket material.
Spare parts are always great to have around
Hate to hear that your parts contact won't be around any longer :-(
Hope he has a new mission now.

Remember, those front brakes need to apply after the rears. With normal Slack Adjusters, the back is between a quarter and a half turn. Front adjusters is backed off between a full turn and a turn and a quarter. You want them to work, but on wet roads in particular you want the fronts to...

Welcome from North Carolina!
I figure if they let me in, they shouldn't have any trouble with you
Hope you can find yourself a "new to you" truck. Sadly, prices are definitely up.
The Classifieds section is a good place to look. I happened to find a pair of Deuces on FaceBook for...

The hoses that I have replaced on my M1089 with a Grove Crane (12,000#, attached to my MTV) have been JIC fittings.
A couple of those hoses look fairly new. Should be a local vendor that can build replacement hoses for you...
PirTek has a couple of Charlotte stores if you want to remove...
