What did you do to your deuce this week?

. Agreed. I personally haven't heard any grumbles about Optima batteries!

MY 1952 M211 GARWOOD CRANE TRUCK

. Good Deal! I think we don't have the ability to host movies / videos here. Best I have been able to find is a linked video. Seems that most of the videos are on YouTube. Wonder if there is a SS Web software upgrade that would allow it? I'd bet a lot of us would be willing to chip in...

What have you done to your 10 ton this week?

    Hydraulic Hose Reel

. I am definitely interested in the operation a Hose Reel. I don't know anything other than my desire to have one on my M1089 for portable tools. Hoping to learn along with you...

MY 1952 M211 GARWOOD CRANE TRUCK

. Really Neat! It seems that the step tank will be in a perfect position to operate the levers too! Definitely a cool truck. I particularly like the simple, straight forward instructions in the shifter box. It obviously came from a day gone by when a person took responsibility for their...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

. Throw in a few big blocks of wood along with the new jack. Just in case... I got myself one like it from Northern Tool about a year ago. Definitely nice to have - again - just in case

Just another alternator charging, battery thread - help for new owners?

. Dang Right! Sure is nice when things work like you want them to... I beat my head against a rock on my battery problem for a while. Sure is good that good connections and cables solved your problem too!!

. Hope you can get it cleared up soon pal...

Gov Planet Purchase Fayetville NC M1081

. Interesting. Would seem that problem would be the responsibility of the steering wheel holder. If he or she can't operate a door correctly, maybe they can be taught to operate a shovel on latrine duty?

Gov Planet Purchase Fayetville NC M1081

. So, I haven't been around the block enough times apparently. The turret cover I kinda understand. A missing drivers window is because why?

Finally, my M1083A1 is at it's new home...

. Congratulations and welcome to you - and - your new member of the family! Nice looking truck. The battery cables appear to be in good condition. Be sure everything is tight and remember that a wrench across a post and a slab of metal will "light up your life" and not in an especially good...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

. Dang Right!! My welding is almost as much as by sound as sight. I have to see what it going on, but the sound - how much crackling or lack of - is how I do what I do. With a stick welder, sometimes a half stick give better control too. Again, it DEFINITELY looks good to me!

What did you do to your deuce this week?

. Owen, Those are some pretty good welds. No bubblegum... I think you "done good". That battery welding box looks nice.

Just another alternator charging, battery thread - help for new owners?

. Big thing to remember is that the wires that jumper from battery to battery need to be BIG FAT THICK copper wires. Cheap auto parts house wires just won't work. Or let me rephrase - they will work - but not well. My M1088a1 had 4 perfectly good big square (factory) batteries in it. The the...

    Retractable Steps for 5 ton

. Wow! There are very few projects on a Deuce or a 5-Ton that end up costing about $150 including shipping. That looks really neat. The M1089 has a pair of retractable ladders on the right side to reach things. This is just as nice!!

Add 7 blade /4 pin receptacle to M939

. Trailer was ZERO trouble at the DMV. Mine was classified as a "utility" trailer. They seemed to be more concerned about the serial number being so short, but they "padded" it with zeros to make it work in their computer system. Took a couple of hours standing in line, but when I got to the...

    M936 wrecker boom leaking down

. There is a thread about remote control for the M936 by one of our guys. Has a list of parts and information for remote operation: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/wrecker-wishlist-of-mods.81781/page-24#post-2295722 One thing to consider is that the electrical powered valves are ON or...

    New guy from NC.

. Welcome from the big city of Charlotte! I don't really have anything for sale, but welcome to the group! There is a place out near Albemarle with a bunch of trucks sitting out front. There is a show this weekend April 24/25 at Denton NC Chances are good that somebody will have a truck or...

    Railroad Forum

. Nice way to die! Humans are just naturally clumsy. Fall down while walking down the street and you get skinned knees. If you slip or misjudge trying to "jump a train" and get under a wheel - chances are that you die. No fun. No re-try...

    CTIS TM issue

. Acrobat Reader (free download) is more reliable for opening and reading TM's. There are other tools that allow more notation, but even the free Acrobat Reader allow markup. Sometimes you can save to an older version of Acrobat - and that cleans up some errors - but that requires Acrobat Writer
