Make sure none of the three are touching anything. Connect the batteries. Measure for 24 volts in all three wires. The hot one is the wire that goes to the battery. Touch that wire to one of the others. If the instruments come on, well that’s not the starter wire.

Haha 395s are EVERYWHERE in a few places like Texarkana, TX but OMG try to find one ANYWHERE ELSE and you will be in trouble.

These are almost as bad as the crappy keyed ignition switches people sell for these things.

Runflats for 395s are a nightmare to get in and out of a tire. The military only used them on MRAPs that run 395s, so they are not common to find on the loose. If it were me I would carry tire tools so I could repair my own punctures.

What has worked out fine for me in TX for over 10 years and multiple LEO stops: I have Class A CDL with medical and drug screen, truck has USDOT and TXDMV registration with Former Military Plates (which is a form of antique registration). This is on a 915 which is same thing weight wise.

To perform a full set of preventative and predictive maintenance on one of these 20+ year old trucks is weeks of work. Shop labor rates are rarely under $100/hr. I would suggest that if you are not a fairly competent mechanic/electric tech, the FMTVs are not a good choice.
