Here is some interesting history that still comes out of DRMO/GL. The "CONEX" box was used extensively during the Viet Nam war, intended as a returnable shipping container. Often, the CONEX boxes ended up at the front lines, being used for portable buildings with a million uses. Here is a...
FS24087 is the correct shade, semi-gloss olive drab. SW should be able to make some up, or use the Gillipsie from Rapco or American Coatings from Brent Mullins Jeep Parts in College Station
Your truck will have the rubber connectors. Originally it would have had the non solid state flasher box, but it has been upgraded to the solid state type. The wiring number codes are the same on both. Be aware the 275's have 2 brake light switches, the usual hydraulic one and a pressure...
Oil Filter is a Fram C21 or equiv. that can be ordered at any parts house. For plugs, are you running shielded cables or or has the truck been converted to civilian? Military plugs are available from any military parts supplier for about $10 ea. Civi plugs are Champion J-8 or equiv. also...
Can't see any evidence of military service. Very restorable it would appear. You will need to look for military data plates, painted over markings on the doors, drab paint under the present color.
My question is, what psychology do you guys use to buy stuff from guys like this who won't sell? I have tried: "be his buddy", night out with strippers, case of booze, bring over everyone I know with a restored MV to guilt him into "saving" his stuff, 2X cash value offers, etc etc...
Back to your original question, the CUCV has electronics in the glow plug controller and the internal voltage regulator inside the alternators. The glow plug controller can be converted to manual with great ease, many threads on this, basically apply voltage to the firewall solenoid. If your...
You will need to use the bellhousing from your existing engine, as well as various oil suction lines required to swap the oil pan end to end. My rebuilt LDS had a valve adjustment screw come loose at 1500 miles, so I would retorque those as well as the head bolts.
OK, I hope you know the consequences of youth exposure to military trucks! My Scoutmaster did the same thing, firmly "set the hook", and now 30 years later, the OD obsession runs deep: 20 trucks, 10 trailers, 2 dozers, crane, warehouse full of military stuff . . .
This ol girl sold at Ft Sam for $2950 on 4/2/09, event 4160 lot 7100. I missed it by 50 bucks. It was a runner. I am not convinced the 900 series trucks are worth astronomical amounts, but then again I am as cheap as they come . . .
85.5 inches to the top of the steering wheel according to TM43-0001-31 (lowest reducible height). Finally some pictures!! Mahalo! Do you get a lei with the truck? Have you been swept away by the flood in AZ?
1956 would be gas. Trailer is ultra rare as well, WWII tandem axle van. Both look to have been garaged earlier in life. If I lived in that area that rig would be in my driveway. Thanks for posting.
Correction: Does not appear to be a tandem axle van after all, looks like a single axle, based...
Pay good attention to things that are rubber, like the torque rod ends, brake hoses, and every shaft seal on the entire truck. Most or all will be no good if original, or will fail after little use.
