OK, who just joined the "Mover" M656 club . . . Closed a little while ago on GSA. The annual Texas Forest Service auction at Lufkin, TX. That truck and a M756 pipliner deuce were the unique items, everything else was yuck.
Very possible the crud could be coming from your diesel fuel supplier! Not a good reason to sell the truck! Imagine if you had a 2010 model truck, it would be in the shop for weeks.
Whoo hoo! Glad to hear your Cummins is alive! I saw some pics of the Convention 915 and yup that is a sweety. The A/C swap in looks simple due to the unused pulley groove on the accessory drive and the ample room in the back of the cab. Red Dot makes a really nice kit. There are also some at...
Progressive Commercial did my 915 for $160 a month. It took lots of effort by my agent to convince various risk managers to insure the truck. They do not want to insure tactical trucks.
Welcome to the site. Sorry about your bad experience. That is truly a rarity without overreving the engine. Was the big end of the rod still attached to the crank? With that level of destruction it might be a challenge to CSI what went wrong.
Thanks wreckerman, I think we both bought these truck for the same reason the military did: Long road marches in deuces and 5 tons is kinda agony. While the 915's still do not compare with studio Pete's with air ride, at least you are not climbing hills at 20 mph with everyone blowing by you...
Goodbrewing is right, stuck float. 1/2 gallon is a huge amount of gas to go through the engine if it hasn't fired yet! It has to go somewhere and out the exhaust is where. Don't drill a hole! Let things dry out and check the carb for overflow. You can see down the barrels easily. If you...
Welcome to the site. You might want to check out a thread I started about this very subject, called "Compliance with DOT???". You for sure need a Class A non-CDL to operate the truck-tractor. The test for the Class A CDL and Class A non-CDL is the same. In Texas, a 818 has to be...
I have done it but the Mutts don't like it. You have to tie the steering wheel straight or the tires will go away from straight taking a corner and then they will not self center. So with the steering wheel tied straight, you end up dragging the front end through corners. The towbar adapters...
Kudos to Editors Reg Hodgson and David Doyle for the 2 best issues EVER!!! Supply Line in FULL COLOR with extensive coverage of the Transcontinental Convoy, the MVPA Convention with LST/amphib ops, the Iola show, the Beltring show, how to tie down vehicles on trailers, and on and on.
Army...
This scene has been repeated countless times over the years: Southeastern Equipment, Levy Auto Parts, L&M Sales, fields full of trucks bought for rebuild programs that did not materialize, left to rot, then cut up.
I think the Steel Soldiers website/organization has done more to help...
What is the consensus, everyone, is Gillipsie Sand color 383 CARC simulation paint a really close match in color and flatness? I know it won't have the sandpaper texture of the original CARCs.
