I agree with Barrman. Find a good engine, paint it, put in some magic friction reducer (teflon) to help with the cam lubrication, and run it. My Tornado has been running great for years at 50 mph road speed max.

My 880 went though the same issues until I added the filter before the pump. Then for years the filter would gradually plug up resulting in lower and lower top speed. Had several filters in the glove box at all times.

Check the bulbs! Check the grounding of the lamp-units, both mounting bolts have to make good contact.
