YOU are going to have to become a "reputable deuce mechanic" . . . Before you do anything, make sure the oil level in the transmission is "one knuckle down" from the fill hole. If it is topped off, it will run out the input shaft.
If that does not solve it, yup, you are looking at a rear...
The standard military is a Holley, that carb was used on lots of other things in the 1960's and is not a bad unit. Kits are available and cores as well.
Welcome to the site. You guys in Greece have all the nice US surplus . . .
In all fairness, the standard for doing this was set by DRMO (US Govt) a long long time ago. Most vehicles are already forklifted by the time GL gets them. DRMO and GL have not been issued rollback wreckers to move trucks damage-free. So, they move the trucks with what they have been issued...
Will be at GL/ RRAD (Red River Arsenal, Hooks, TX) on Monday, 6 July. Can preview, check out a won item, or load out a small item. By small I mean one pallet weighing around 300 lbs or less. Will be travelling to Houston on Hwy 59, and can hold your item or deliver it to motor freight...
Nice shelter. On the repairs, you can refer to manuals for the S-250 shelter in the "resources" section of this site, they are TM 11 series. The S-318 and S-250 are very similar, I think the 318 came first. You are lucky to have the A/C unit on yours, those are not there very often. I do not...
Has anyone done the Red Dot installation on their truck, like the one that was discussed in the HMMWV thread? I called the local dealer and he said bring the truck in for a quote. I would like to have an idea how many $$$$ it will take so I won't have sticker shock too bad.
Planning a pickup on the last day with plan B being begging for an extension is a very poor plan. Plan for a pickup on the first day and then have 2 more weeks for contingency. It will take you a couple of days to line up transportation if you can't get the 818 to fire off. As mentioned...
As nice as your truck is, I would bring a couple of hot 6TL batteries and chances are she will fire right up. Not too many GL locations are attempting to jump trucks with dead batteries in order to provide buyers with a better idea of the roadworthiness of the trucks. Most sites will not...
Welcome to the site. OE 10 is "Oil Engine" 10 weight oil. Hydraulic fluid is 10 weight oil with additives suitable for hydraulic systems. ATF is 10 weight oil with additives suitable for automatic transmissions. I have run Dextron in my M135 since 1983 with no ill effects, that would be my...
The quad is spun in azimuth by an electric motor under the mount. To do any kind of diagnostics on the drive, you will have to pull the mount out of the trailer. The mount will not spin by hand, the drive has to turn in order for it to spin. The trunion ring is very subject to getting rusted...
So what is it like to live and work in paradise? Every day I think about moving there and picking nuts for a living . . . get away from the rat race . . .
Looks like a nice ex-brush truck, needs some OD paint ASAP! The old Tornado is a easy to get running engine, just get the Holley and the fuel pump a kit, clean the points, and she will fire right up. Just hope she hits on all 6!!
