If is coming from under the truck, it is the safety pop off valve on the air tanks. Check your compressor cut out on the firewall, it is not functioning.
Narcos! They are trying to stop the flow of drugs into the US since we can't stem the demand.
All over Mexico are army roadblocks on the only highways connecting towns. Those are some serious soldiers, you better have good reason for travelling or your ride will get disected . . ...
Cool find! I have been looking for ex-us miilitary stuff in Mexico for years and have never come across anything. All those trucks are WWII, whether or not it is worth the trouble to try and get any of that home is debatable.
jpcj7, that's your M-915A1, right, how's she doing? FYI everyone, the ink on that truck's EUC is still wet, mine just cleared Fri. jpcj7 is setting a new record for putting a truck to work right out of GL . . . Looks really good with that 270, that's what mine will be pulling.
Welcome. There is a Dodge parts dealer in Victoria, his name is Sid and he lives on Raisen rd off 59. He has a WWII Chevy I'm sure he would love to show you. If you want a M35, now is the perfect time because the trucks being sold in San Antonio are going really cheap. Search "Ft Sam Deuces".
Correct, 44 in front and 60 in the rear. The shelter carrier has the overload springs and the tail rides high unloaded. You can put ungodly loads on that truck and just go. I had 2 cubic yards of crushed concrete in mine and that made it ride level. M884 should have a 100 amp kit. Congrats...
jpcj7, what´s your take on a 1000 mile drive with one of these trucks? As in fly in, drive home? Do they look recently serviced? Do they all have the cab rust? I was afraid of that, you could see it in the GL pics . . . Good luck with the alternator, looks like a special military only...
Infra red probe - now that is a darn good diagnostic idea! Next you'll be telling us you had vibration probes on the gearcases. Then I would be even more amazed. Congrats on the sweet truck!
Years ago I pulled off the highway to look at an International halftrack. Just as I was walking up to it, a shot rang out. I turned to look and someone at a nearby farmhouse had a rifle levelled at me. I got out of there in a hurry and learned my lesson that day not to trespass. Now I start...
Both the 172's and 870's bring around $3000. You just missed a 870 last week at RRAD. The 172 in the picture was made by cutting off the side channel and shortening the crossmembers, and then rewelding the side channel. The axles were not narrowed and they are 103" tire outside to outside...
Let's see, the 893 is an ambulance, and the 891 is a 890 with 60 amp alternator kit and the 892 is a 891 with a communications kit, which is basically a radio rack in the front of the bed. The 60 amp alternator is the same as all other army trucks, and 2 additional batteries are mounted on the...
Possibly. You'll have to bring it in and either get measurements or numbers from it. Option B is to call a dealer such as Memphis Equipment and have them ship you the right part without any hassle.
Waddya say 1310monster, about 3000 lbs (30 sacks) for an assembled truck? We are at $5.00 a sack down here, what's sand running you? I run about 6 sacks an hour, and that damn CARC paint does not blast off very fast.
I have no idea about a disassembled truck, I always lose count . . .
It could be as simple as low fluid in the master cyl, but it could also be 6 leaking wheel cylinders which as you can imagine are no fun to replace. If the M52 is not otherwise really nice, you might be advised to look into a M818, they are being surplused by the hundreds right now and are...
Here is my point with the "identity crisis" crack: Is is a contact truck, a rolling toolbox, or is it a extreme mobility cargo carrier? It can't be both: Think of the ergonmics of using the maintenance bed when it is 5 feet off the ground . . . How do you use the vise, how to you replace the...
At the parade, show, etc: "Gee dad, when you were in the Army, did you drive one of those??" "No son, that is a cobbled up rolling identity crisis."
Sorry but you asked for opinions . . .
Don't scrap, fing the right marketplace, the "G503" website is the army jeep addict site, those guys will be fighting over your jeeps especially the flathead one, it is a WWII model. Ebay also might help you bring even better money.
