On some of these, the tool to pull the oil drain plug is just a 1/2" drive ratchet with no socket on it.

I've not seen anyone selling a reproduction tailgate, though there were rumors a few years ago that one of the well-known vendors of parts was working on one. Unfortunately, I can't remember who it was, and have not heard anything since then. One thing to check for is rust. You really want to...

Looks just like my Michelin 11.00-R16 XZL tires. I paid $1580 ($395 each) +tax & shipping for a set of 4 back in Sept. 2021. Have fun with your truck. Looking forward to hearing about your progress getting it running.

I wonder what the difference is between “oversize Michelin Marine vehicle assault tires (available only to the department of defense)” and Michelin 11.00-16 XZL tires ( made for the military, but readily available for about $450 each last time I checked in June 2023)

Power steering options for 251 cid

Kind of depends on what you are doing with it. When I bought my M37, a previous owner had installed power steering, along with a steering wheel & steering column from a Chevy S10 pickup. When the power steering went out, I had no trouble at all driving it on the roads, parking, etc. even with...

Power steering options for 251 cid

Greg Coffin of Longmont, CO (greg@highlandbuilt.com) was selling brackets to mount a Saginaw steering pump to a 230 engine. He's a big fan of the Saginaw pump. We had him send us one of his brackets that had not been all welded up, so we could easily modify it to fit my 251. I THINK he was also...

Depends on what they are going for... and if I can find it. I've been too busy to look much yet.

Thanks. I guess I need to review how to search for closed sales.

    Military Magazine resto guide

Question: What are copies of Dodge M37 Restoration Guide by David Ahl actually selling for? I can't find a history on eBay or Amazon. I have an old copy that came with my truck when I bought it. I've never even put the effort into thinking of selling it. I certainly can't see it going for...

    M37 Instruments and switches

Stumbled across this video showing the light switchoperation and what it does to the lights on the truck.

And he can find TM 9-8030 in the technical manuals section. HEre is a page with links to some manuals for the M37: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/tms-for-the-m37.83365/

    M37 Instruments and switches

Yes, the ignition switch sends power to the ignition. Unlike a modern car, however, it does not have a "start" position. You use the foot pedal for that.

    M37 Instruments and switches

All these switches do is control the lights, nothing else. The starter is operated by a foot pedal. Yes, the lower right lever is just a lock to keep the upper lever from accidentally being bumped and turning on the lights. (You can imagine that if they were running at night with the lights...

    M37 Instruments and switches

This PDF file should help. As you may already have discovered, you can't turn the upper lever on unless you are holding the lower right lever in the unlock position. (You can turn the lights back off without holding the lock lever.)

Modern tire size to replace 900x16

Yes, the 11.00R16 is not cheap. Last I checked about 5 or 6 months ago they were getting $450 each for them. (They were a little bit cheaper when I got mine a couple of years ago.) Colony Tire used to have the Michelin XZL in the 9.00R16 as well as the 11.00R16, but the last few times I've...

Modern tire size to replace 900x16

STA Superlug 9.00-16 tires have a more modern tread design than the original NDT tires. These are Bias ply tires. They are sold by Vintage Power Wagon and by Coker Tire (and probably some other sources as well). They are 36.3" diameter. I've seen them on an M37, and they look good. Much better...

Modern tire size to replace 900x16

Stock 9.00-16 NDT tires are just a shade over 35" diameter.

Modern tire size to replace 900x16

Thanks for the tip. I did not run in to that issue when I was changing my tires but good to know if I run in to it next time. (if Im still around when "next time" comes on this truck.) I've only done 5 of these at this point. The toughest part on my tire changes was the spare, which probably...
