    1942 Ford F15A Cab 13

Fantastic truck! If they made new pickup trucks that looked like that, I would buy one.

snow / ice tires for deuce

I want to use tall singles. And I agree that chaining up is best, and that is great for a hunting trip, but for driving down our canyon (10 miles) to Salt Lake City, doing some stuff, then driving back, chaining and unchaining will be a mighty pain in the rear. For the past 10 yrs we have used...

Have up-armored humvees ever been sold to the public?

Interesting about the gubbermint and armor. I guess they are afraid of us? A guy with some 3/8" plates of AR500 steel, a plasma cutter, a welder, and a LOT of time can up-armor a pickup truck cab somewhat discreetly. 3/8" AR500 steel is rated to stop 50 BMG ball rounds (not 50 BMG...

Have any of you guys put dual fuel tanks on a deuce?

I am thinking that 100 gap or so of fuel would be nice. Other than bolting the 2nd tank on, what else would be required?

Have up-armored humvees ever been sold to the public?

I am wondering about this. It would be great to have one, but I wonder if the gov't gets heartburn about civvies owning armor. ??

Newly Bobbed M818 Back Working for the Man

Could you please tell me how you attached the new springs. Did you use the original hangers, riveted, welded? Also, does this have a detroit locker in it? Again, I am really impressed with this rig. :!::-D

ARB Rockwell Lockers on the way, soon! Reserve yours today!

This is good news! I hope they decide to do a 5 ton version too.

Also, I am looking at the pics of your frame. Did you have to shorten the frame or did you leave it original length?

Newly Bobbed M818 Back Working for the Man

I love this thread!!! What an awesome project. This is in fact my dream project, and I am green with envy. Can you tell me, in bobbed configuration and with those tires, what fuel economy do you get on the highway? And how do you compare the performance of this 818 in snow on a paved road...

    Interesting question from the DMV

When I registered my 1986 military trailer with 9.00 x 20's with the gov't certificate thingie, the lady at DMV had to look at my VIN. Then, standing beside the trailer she asked some really insightful questions, like how long is the trailer, how many axles does it have, what color is it and...

    deuce value without title?

I have done the no-title thing with a motorcycle. It was a huge pain in the butt. The DMV cop scoured the whole bike for conflicting vins, had to look it up several times, had to call the manufacturer, etc. Finally, 2 hours later, he gave me a paper, which I submitted to DMV, who did another...

snow / ice tires for deuce

I am looking at a bobbed deuce or 5 ton for use here in Utah. We live at 7500 ft and have lots of snow and ice to drive on from November through April. So I am interested in recommendations for tires (oversized tires of I get a deuce) which will do well in snow and ice on a regular basis. Of...

That is an impressive truck. Thanks for the pics.

Which is the most trouble free engine?

Thanks for all the replies. My use would be a bobbed fun truck, driven quite a bit, but not for any kind of commercial use or towing. The heaviest thing it would carry would be some motocross bikes. But I would drive it in deep snow and cold weather, going up and down to our house (7500 ft...

Which would make a better bobbed rig?

Thanks all for the helpful input. :-D

The bottom line: nobody makes hubs for a 5 ton??

Thank you very much for the info. Those Warn converts are pricey! I figure on a bobbed 5 ton I would but Detroits front and rear, and hubs all around so that I can lock in on a wheel by wheel basis. But that is $5K worth of hubs. Yikes.
