    Rear Bearings

It's a wet bearing setup. No need to pack with grease. (Page 2-24 in the -20 TM) I dipped mine in gear oil when I reassembled after doing the brakes and changing the rearend fluid a couple weeks ago. Keep a sharp eye on the fluid level in the rear end. I checked/added fluid to mine every...

Help me trouble shoot starting issues ?

I did my 12v conversion according to the tech article here on the site. Have had no problems whatsoever, and when I eliminate the starter relay from under the dash, I'll be installing an anti-theft switch and going to fix up a remote starter switch that I can plug in. The starter relay (under...

M1008 vs M1009 Dash Wiring Harness??

Mine had the wiring and a socket tucked under the floormat. Put a bulb in it and it worked.

    Cigarette Lighter Wiring?

I don't think they came equipped with one, yours may have been added by someone. I was never able to find a harness for one on my truck, although I did find some light sockets that just didn't have bulbs in them and were tucked away/hidden/taped up. Are there no wires at all to yours to trace...

    Front springs worn out?

I'm my own mechanic so take what I say with a grain of salt. Mine still shakes from time to time but nothing like it did when I got it. I'd give the front suspension a thorough going over. Leaf springs will sag over time, and the bushings at the ends can go south, but before I replaced them...

another new guy with question m1009

When it shifts is it a real hard, high-rpm shift? If so there may be more vacuum leaks, the vacuum pump is on the back of the 6.2, under the resistor block and behind the air cleaner housing where the distributor would be on a Chevy small-block engine. Lines run from it to the IP to your split...

    Please identify this part

Mine is usually in 3rd by 20-25 miles an hour, soft, but definite shifts. If that's what you're gettin I would assume it's good. Mine's been shifting like that for 2 1/2 years now. I had the high rpm hard shifting when I got it, same thing, rubber hoses missing/cracked. Was kinda cool...

    Please identify this part

I just pulled the one of my truck. It's simply a connector. The two ports do not interconnect, and they both go straight through. You could ostensibly eliminate it and plug the hoses directly into the regulator the rubber piece is plugged into, if they are long enough, and the port sizes match.

    Ok, New site...

I'll get used to it, I like the new colors! Thanks for all your work, Mike.

    M1008/9

If you look at one, make sure to check the front end, where the u-joints are at the front wheels, look for leaks in the seals there, the front ends and Injection pumps on these are two of the most expensive components to repair/replace. The injection pump is on top of the engine in front of the...

    S.S. Ga Ralley?

Nice place ya got there, Reuben! We would love to come up there and ride around. I've still got some work to do to the 1008 first though. Agreed there. I know there's probably some folks driving 8+ hours to come to Clint's, but I don't think we could make that drive, yet. If we have to...

need a stock model 80 fuel filter

I can't find my receipt from the last filter change. I get mine at Napa, for a 4wd one ton chevy with the 6.2 diesel. They had it in stock. Hope that helps.

    Trans R&R

Well I've never rebuilt an automatic before, had the 4-speed Rockcrusher from my Camaro apart a few times though. The biggest thing is Clean. Clean everything that touches anything that goes in the tranny. TC replacement would be a good idea, as well as flushing the lines/cooler once the...

SS diesel supply and the CUCV

These are the Wellman G070's. Been running them for 3 or 4 months. GP System was stock until a couple of weeks ago when I installed the new starter and converted to 12v. I know yer asking about SSDiesel's, hopefully the numbers will help.
