Looks like you want to throw money away! I registerd my UNIMOG Radiobox as a camper/van, same class as an RV and historical plates. Lots of advantages to it beside the $$$ savings. You can keep a firearm in the back and can drink in it also without being ticket for an open container among other...

I have seen a 404 with an engine from a MB 1984 300SD w/turbo at Calicomogfest 2008. The vehicle looked and sounded sweet! With that power plant there would not be any more power issues.:D

Check to see if you can register it on historic plates, it may make it exempt. The county said I could not park my UNIMOG's on the driveway, but there was nothing in the laws saying I could not park my trucks on the street as long as they were registered and insured. So the Dumb a$$ neighbor...

you could by a small rechargable battery pack and run the modern small low voltage lights off of it. The new lights use very little power and produce almost no heat.

Back in the early-mid eighties my Civil Air Patrol sq. used one. It was donated by the air force to our sqaudron to use in the search & rescue training we did.

They could have saved big bucks buy getting some 5ton expando van's and refurbishing them from the ground up. They would be a hell of a lot more mobile and tactical in a realworld emergency when an if the roads were messed up. It's easy to spend too much when your not dealing with you're own...

There are 4 of the S.E.E. Unimogs at the Azusa, Ca armory. Not for sale though. They are in excellant condition, one even looks and smells like a new car inside! Hopefully they will be auctioned off in the same condition someday.
