    Fuse Block Melting

Hi All, I'm having issues with my fuse block melting around the terminals for the headlight fuse as well as the heater blower motor fuse. I know these are somewhat common issues. Is there a part number or option to replace the plastic cover all the terminals press into? Or an alternative fuse...

    6.2 Valve Rocker Retainers

Well I broke a valve spring and was a pretty close to dropping a valve from the looks of it. Luckily I shut it down before things went too off the rails. Long story short, when I pulled the rockers to repair the spring I also had a cracked rocker shaft and the old style bushing/cast rockers...

Brake Light and Hazard Signal Issue

Hi All, My turn signals and tail lights work, but not my brake lights or rear hazard lights. I have power out of the brake switch at the pedal and every once in a while the hazard and brake lights start working so I know it’s a loose connection. Looking at the diagram it looks like everything...

    Where to Buy Valvetrain Components

As discussed in my other post I am in the market for parts to fix a broken valve spring and broken rocker arm shaft. Can anyone recommend where the best place to get these would be? It looks like rockauto only carries stuff for the new stamped style rocker assemblies. They have the valve spring...

    6.2 Revving and Missing

Hey Guys, I'm having some engine trouble with the M1009 that has me a bit stumped. I drove it to work the other day and everything was swell. When I started it to go to lunch as soon as it started it revved way up to ~3k like the throttle was stuck open, but before I had a chance to acknowledge...

    LMC Grille Replacement

Looking to replace a cracked grille on my '84 M1009. It looks like LMC now offeres replacement grilles for the '84 with the chevy logo, etc. The part number form LMC is 38-4156 for the single headlight version, but it almost looks like the dual headlight version is a better match. Has anyone...

What is the Most Durable Paint?

Hi Guys, I have an M1009 and an M116A3 that need paint. They both get worked pretty heavily off-road so I would like to paint them with carc or something that stands up as well. Is there a good source for buying current milspec paint? I'd like to keep it brake fluid resistant, etc.

    Mep-803a

Hi Guys, Looking at an Mep-803a coming up for auction on gov liquidation. I haven't bought from the auction site before or have much info on the genset. How are they for reliability and parts availability? Anything special I need to know about bidding on them on gov liquidation? Fees, forms, etc?

    Engine Trouble and Oil Analysis

Well since I have owned my CUCV I have always suspected something was a little funky with the motor. It has a tick on the drivers side of the intake when the air filter is off and when you have ear plugs in you can hear there is more clatter at the drivers side valve cover than the passenger...

    Service body price

What's a fair price for a service body with about 80k miles in decent condition? Has the gen set and compressor. Seems likes the value of cucv's have gone up quite a bit since I bought my 1009 in 2010.

    Speedo Adjustment

My m1009 has been off by about 20MPH for the last 4 years which I don't really mind other than the odometer artificially skyrocketing. I'm running 4.10 gears and 36in tires. I've heard there is a converter box on the M1009 that changes the speedo ratio as well as the gears in the T case. Do I...

    Valve Issue?

My truck sat for about 4 months without being driven while I was away. When I went to start it up again I thought it would be a good idea to lube up the top end of the motor before starting it so I disconnected the cutoff wire from the IP and cranked it over for about 10 seconds without it...

    Starter Engagement

Replaced my flex plate about 2 years ago when the tranny was done as there was a few teeth that were messed up from having the starter relay stick. Since then it has always started with no grinding or problems of any kind. Today I went to start it up as usual and it just spun like the starter...

Freeze Plug Size and Install Tips

About to go to the parts store to change my motor and transmission mounts since they are super sagged and want to change the freeze plug under the drivers side motor mount as it is weeping a little. I didn't see in the TM what size it is or the best way to install it. What to people use for...

    Brake Combination (Proportioning) Valve

So mine started leaking from where the rear brake line connects to it. I took it apart to clean it and hopefully get it to seal up so I wouldn't keep getting air in my rear brakes. Long story short I pinched the seal inside and it got tore apart when I put it back together. Where can I get a new...

    Heater Core Shutoff?

Is there supposed to be some sort of valve that shuts flow off through the heater core when the control is on cold? I seems like a lot of water bypassing the radiator that could be cooled. I tested it yesterday and when it is 112* outside the truck ran at 205 with heater off and 195-200 with it on.

    Gen 2 light Off

For the last 2 years my m1009's Gen 2 light as flickered on and off while driving. Recently the light has stopped working altogether. It does not come on with the gen 1 light when the ignition is on. I checked the two relays under the dash and they both are switching and I swapped the one for...

    Mechanical Water Temp Gauge

Does anyone have issues with their temp gauges in the heat? I cant believe that it isn't effected by the 200* air in the engine bay and running 6" from the exhaust manifolds. Just trying to decide if I want to pay up for an electric one vs a mechanical one.

    Why so Hot?

Runs around the 190* thermostat when temps are below about 90*. For temps between 90-105* it will run about 195-200* in traffic or at lights, about 200-205 down the highway, and as high as 210* on long hills. Has a new water pump, thermostat, fan clutch, and radiator was fixed and cleaned about...

    Front Crankshaft Seal

What is the front crank seal that is easy to replace while I have the harmonic balancer off called? I am going to be replacing the balancer soon and want to do any preventative maintenance I can while I have it apart. A quick look on autozone's site left me wondering what exactly to search for...
