Well, I don't really need it (FDC) as I only run Diesel, and, I really don't want to discover my truck is making oil when I'm a long way from home.

The leakage problem in the "E" type IP's FDC is because the piston rod passes through the casting with no sort of seal. They are relying on the fit between the steel piston rod, and the cast iron (?) casting to keep the fuel out of the oil pan. The FDC fails due to wear, and given good fuel filters, the failure should be slow and progressive.

If you do decide to keep the FDC, add it to your yearly maintenance schedule, and just lift it and look for dripping. No dripping, and you still have a good FDC. It's as easy as 4 screws, and flipping the accessory switch.

If you decide to ditch it, be careful to set the IP to the correct fuel and droop settings. Approximate settings can be found by searching on FDC. I'm pretty sure that you will find it necessary to improve upon those settings.

i would get rid of it just to be safe.i talked to my engine builder he contacted arp they said the have a rod bolt that will fit the multifuel rod .even though they dont have it listed only catch the rod needs to be sized as they ussually are distorted from the knerlled area of the old bolts.they have more that double the tensitle strenght of the stock bolts which are just a little better than a grade 8:roll:

More info on these bolts?, and how much is a set of 12? I'm still trying to find somewhere to get these broken rod bolts tested.

if someone has an old rod from a multifuel i could get a couple bolts and have them pressed in there just to make sure eveything is how it should then i will give you the part number for them so you can put them in your motor .and everyone will be able to do this upgrade .i will get a price on them to i just want to make sure they are right before giving out info

TM, if no one comes up with something, I have a parts engine that I've needed to tear down for months. I'll try to get started on it this weekend.

Well, today I took the truck for a test drive, with the doghouse uninstalled, and I have antifreeze running down the back of the block. . . :evil:

Not a hose issue, I can see where the liquid is coming from between the head and block in the vicinty of the #6 cylinder. . . . Frak!

Motor runs really good though :roll:

Hopefully a head gasket, not a crack.

you seem to have the same luck i do:roll:i did some plowing this weekend made 150 and broke an axle that cost me 242 for the part:cry:maybe you can get me that head gasket so i can get you some kemetic gaskets made so you will only have to do the job once

I forgot, tabs on head gasket = new, or old style gaskets?

Don't even want to mention how much money in "fluids" I put in myself during this debacle. . . :D

From what I have read on these boards, the gaskets with the tabs that stick out past the head are the new style.
