ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

After the EcoHubs and the original 3.90 gears are installed. when I take it to caterpillar service to have them reprogram the eco speedometer doe anyone know the ratio? I think it was a ratio that was needed, its been 6 or 7 years ago that I had them change it for the 3.07 gears. Or is that something I can program myself using the software I got from Superman? Also why is the overspeed on the CTIS recommended to delete it?

The stock number for my speedo was 62,618 pulses/mile, so you'd want to halve that with the Ecohubs and 3.90 gears. You can program it yourself if you have the Cat ET software and adapter cables.

If you like, you can send me your ECM and I can flash it to 330 HP and make all the changes for pulse per mile and cruise enable, etc. Can also clone the ECM if you want to carry a spare. CAT generally can't or won't do that with a used ECM and new ones for the 3126 are crazy expensive from them. I can turn around an ECM in 1-2 business days.

When you reprogram the A1+ truck ECM to correct the speedo that same signal is used by the CTIS controller so it will go to over speed warning at the same ~65 mph that it always did. But you can pop into the Dana software and change the HWY over speed warning to whatever you want.

So if I have caterpillar program it they need 31,309 to enter into the ECM? I thought it was a percentage that they needed.

Thanks Rick, years ago my ECM died and I purchased a new ECM from cat and they programmed it to 330, activated cruise, set cruise setting to the lowest mph possible and saved the data for future needs. I’m may send it to you just for back up reasons. What’s the charge?

That’s what I thought so I wasn’t sure what the delete was recommended for in the directions.

I've noticed on some of the install videos that they remove the shims, and after installing my eco hubs it doesn't seem like the shims serve a purpose once the gears are removed. Are they left in place to keep things spaced correctly just in case the reduction gears are reinstalled in the future?

They don’t serve a purpose with the eco hubs. I left mine in place I figured if I had a catastophic hub failure I could put the reduction hubs back on and I would have more shims to work with when doing the lash.

Yes you leave the shims in place for two reasons. First if you mark the gear reduction units when you remove them.
You don’t need to re shim the units if you reinstall them. Second if you use the Delta Locks, the shims space the lock further onto the splines of the axle tube.

When you remove the outer gear reduction units, mark them left front,right front,right rear ,left rear so they go back on in the same location. If you ever want to!
Is there a market for the outer hubs, I installed eco hubs and now the gears are just taking up space in my shop for me to trip on.

Is there a market for the outer hubs, I installed eco hubs and now the gears are just taking up space in my shop for me to trip on.

I'd imagine the market is the same as the market for the LBCD's 😇. I have 4 old hubs myself, very good weights to hold stuff down in the wind.

There were initially some weirdos on Facebook groups that were asking about them. Probably to try to home-brew their own direct drive hubs or the magical thinking of selectable hubs but that racket has died off as even the dullards have realized it's nigh impossible and/or stupid depending on what crackpot idea they had in their pea brain.
