Polaris MRZR-D4

I have a 2017 MRZR D4. I have been told like everyone else that US Federal Regulations prohibit Polaris from selling parts to civilians r servicing these vehicles. I spent a couple weeks in the Army and know that for every rule there is an exception so I started digging. Reaching out to Polaris Defense I was brushed off with the claim that these vehicles are covered by Title 10 U.S. Code. If you haven't delved into this, its HUGE, literally thousands of pages. Oddly, while it does cover the sale of vehicles requiring Govt permission, there is NOTHING prohibiting the sale of parts. Next I researched EVERY contract between DoD and Polaris, guess what... NOTHING there prohibiting the sale of parts either. Now I am really confused and start digging deeper where I found that Polaris internal policy says they will not sell these parts to civilians.

Personally, I am starting with calls to my Senators and congressman to see what pressure they can apply to Polaris. Suggest that other owners raise the heat as well, get your elected representatives involved. What can it hurt, right?

good luck with that….while ur at it, see if you can get them to sell us JLTV’s as well.

the engine doesn’t crank, nothing to do with a dead spot in the starter, it’s as if the truck is being started in gear or like a bad neutral start switch.
if you leave the key in “start” and push the brake pedal, you hear a click, like activating
a switch of some sort, the engine won’t start unless the brake is depressed by design, in park or in neutral.
How would the blackout switch affect starting?

There is one on Facebook not me, don’t know the guy. I have a few of the other style, since the bolts are steel and the rims are aluminum there is a chance some of them will snap as you attempt to remove the old tire.

I had a problem with a Govt agency. Wrote a letter to my congressional Rep. Cleared the problem up. I guess Govt agencies do no like Congressional visibility. She stated on her website, she cannot force an approval but she can require them to respond with an explanation. Everyone, write that letter or email. About the Marine Corp and Polaris. We had to fill out that SF form to show we are American citizens, we should be able to by repair parts. Dave

Made in China. Ugh. It'll probably work. Until it doesn't. I gave up using anything but OEM off amazoo. Not that that's not made in china either but...

Now I'm researching batteries. MRZR-D4 has two, both original 8 years old. They are like motorcycle batts. Group 30L. I think I am going to go with AGM (glass mats) versus lead-acid.

I have to figure out a high lift jack, and lug wrench, and where to mount them. The spare tire is going to live in the right rear above the engine standing up. Some guy on Ebay is asking over $900.00 for a MRZR spare tire mount. Too much. I might put the jack on the roll cage above the rear seats. Need to figure out a tool box.

The spare tire mounts are pricy. The mil spec tires are 12 ply bead locks and run flat.

The mounts aren't terribly expensive, unless you're buying used ones on eBay. The OG 12-ply DWT runflat tires are getting harder to find, not sure if they're made anymore. They are particularly knobby, and I've noticed more recent auctions switched to a different tire that looks like it probably runs smoother than the runflats if you're not planning on running it through serious trails.

If you can find more rims at that price, buy them all up - the D4s (and the gassers run the same rim specs) are almost 4 or 5 times that price new. Just be careful with the bolts, they can seize in the rim. make sure you apply anti-seize to them and torque them.

The AGM battery is the right call. Won't have to worry about gassing and terminal corrosion.

For the High lift jack, the polaris kit is just rebranded hi-lift stuff. Everything is available on their site @ hi-lift.com. Jack is the UTV-424, mount kit is TM-700 and is mounted as pictured by aceecaus. If you want to mount it on the cage, I believe you'll need the larger mount kit TM-750. Just a word of caution, everything becomes a missle when you crash. I would not mount a jack anywhere behind passengers where it has the potential to strike them in a collision.

Regarding your lug wrench - if you buy the OEM polaris spare tire carrier, the hold-down handles are also a lug wrench on both the military and civillian versions of the spare carrier
