I stole it from someone. It was on the web so it must be free.

To add to the level of difficulty they also threaded out the whole bigger on the block and starter, I got a gear reduction starter, could i make the hole bigger, or could I tap the hole deeper and put a longer bolt in there, how deep can i go w the right handed hole?

I contacted them too and sent pictures but got no reply , haha , I discovered the other hole is elongated and the flywheel is worn bad from grinding , I'm wondering if it would b more cost effective just to find a good engine , I'm not sure the problem wouldnt resurface again if by some miricale I was able to perform the repair correctly and get every thing centered correctly - input welcome

If the other hole is elongated, you no longer have a reliable reference for positioning any repairs.

I think you need a machine shop to fix this. I think it's gone beyond DIY territory.

If the ring gear is trashed, it will chew up starter pinion. That has to be addressed. I think you are looking at some serious money for proper repairs. To bad this was not caught sooner.

Just think. It could have been a GL truck with all the issues and a bent driveshaft or cracked transfer case.

Very very true all I can do now is move forward , I believe a engine swap may be the cheapest solution? Any idea where to find a good one ? Do the hummer take outs drop right in?

The HMMVW engines are a drop in. Just need to swap the accessories and fuel shutoff on the injector pump. And the oil pan.

Watch out if the HMMWV engine had a sepentine belt. The water pump pumps in the opposite direction.

The ip is almost identical. The Hmmwv uses a 24v shutoff. The Cucv is 12v. Just the cover needs to be changed out.
