    powdercoat primer with gillespie paint?

Any powder that is applied to properly pretreated metal will have good rust resistance. If they are using a TGIC powder, it will also work as a primer for compatible topcoats. The main thing will be how he is pretreating. If he has a pretreat line that washes, rinses, and iron or zinc...

    A second FDC, why not

I bypassed my FDC because it was leaking lots of fuel (4 gallons in 8 hrs) into the oil pan. I hooked up a pyrometer when I did the bypass, WAY too hot! It would hit 1400 on a level road in 3rd gear! So I started backing it off. Ended up backing the fuel rate 3 full turns before I got it under...

Personally, I think it is hilarious! She was taken completely by surprise, she didn't say anything for...

    Love Chapel?

Well, here is a new one. My brother in law borrowed my deuce to take his girlfriend, her 2 teenaged daughters, and her parents to a fireworks show a couple of miles from his house. Reason given was that the area where the show was held was too rough for his Ford Taurus (plausible). As the show...

m-621 project nears completion (norway deuce)

You are doing beautiful work. The wheels look exactly like the ones I am working on. Mine will be 11" wide, as that matches my flaps.

What's everyone think is the best SINGLE color for my HEMTT?

I think you should make a 1 of a kind Arctic truck. Paint the sucker white!

    Exhuast smoke color...

The black smoke on acceleration is normal. When you open the throttle to a position that is good for say, 1600 rpm, the engine is immediately getting that amount of fuel. You will see black smoke (excess fuel) until the engine builds to the rpm that the throttle position determines. At that...

    engine bearings for M35

Mine makes a racket between 2100 and 2300. Sounds like loud diesel clatter, maybe the air compressor? Goes away at 2400 or so.

New jacket for the Ole M37

$49 is a good price for a winch input shaft. I wouldn't weld it up and repair it for that.

    Purpose of 5th ring

Piston alignment would be my guess. Many of the old industrial motors had lower guide rings.

Should I retard my timing with the turbo?

I would stick a K thermocouple into the manifold and install a pyrometer. Then you can monitor egt's and let the rest of us know what happens!

Proper way to set steering box preload

Parts truck still has the steering box, but I am unsure of its condition. On some boxes, you can pull the pittman arm, and replace the bushing and seal in-frame. I did a few old trucks that way over the years. Haven't checked the deuce TM's yet on the steering box.
